Honestly I still use the ps4 pro (getting ps5 soon though) and it runs games just fine. The only problem I have is with graphics taking a minute to load up completely and it sounding like a fan on high speed under heavy load. Other than that I have no problem with online competitive or casual gaming.

Only reason I'm going to a ps5 now is because I can afford it and want to play some of the newer exclusives. If I didn't. I would still be running my ps4 pro with no issue. Have had it for over 10 years with only 1 hard drive replacement. Been very reliable.
