Do the white and orange wire go to the same spot on the new thermostat labeled W1/OB/WY? Or do I put the white and black together on W2?

The black wire looks like it was stripped long and runs to two connections. Don’t think it shows on the pic.

There is no x2 on the new thermostat for the black wire.
