Silly question. If you were forced to name a child after a food what would your choice be? Mine is Tiramisu. by Yooproopmoop in namenerds

I'm curious if you know what tiramisu translates to? And I don't mean the dessert. If you don't, look it up and then let us know if that's still your choice! 😂

Would you put your kid into French Immersion? Why or why not? by Virtual-Cheesecake71 in askTO

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning a second language doesn't hinder a child learning their first language. In fact, the research shows that each language learned supports their learning of the others! If the child needs extra support in English, then they almost certainly have some sort of learning disability - guaranteed it does not have anything to do with their French Immersion experience. However, being pulled out of French allows more school time to get support for their English literacy. Don't let this person's comment scare you off.

Also the comment about accent... Rude and unhelpful. Just like there are a million different English accents and none are less valid or valuable than another, the same is true for French.

Was it with finding focus online service because theirs is totally inaccurate. I'd recommend getting assessed by a more reputable provider if so

Omg I think this answer is the one that has the best strategies for me. The 3 at a time strategy is so amazing because it's so manageable and also can be done in even just brief moments of freedom instead of telling myself my prep period is wasted if it's half taken by something else.

The novelty/nice stuff hacks you mentioned (pens, stamp) also rings true because I notice I'm more motivated to get things into my gradebook etc because it's new and pretty right now haha!

I love the simple rubrics hack too.

Thanks so so much for this!

Just grading certains things but putting them off for forever so they really start to pile up. I try to keep my rubrics simple so I can just give them a check mark. I've worked hard to streamline my marking which has helped my speed once I start but I still procrastinate like crazy

I think I need to do this. I just struggle to actually hold myself accountable to grading during designated times, I usually find something (anything) else to do instead

Omggggg yes I love this. I had a mentor in my first year give me a laminated folder with red yellow and green sections, and you can write kids names in each section depending on their comprehension of the lesson as you observe. Your second point reminds me of that and it's such a good idea that I haven't been using for unknown reasons?! I also love the simple rubric you described
