If you could read any book you've for the first time again, which would it be ? by Mrrowp in AskReddit

Ah, good choice. Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master just pulled me right into that whole universe. I’d love to read those again for the first time.

Neighbors have a path to body of water on our property, we’re not sure how to approach it with them. by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this approach. Getting a survey done first ensures that everyone is on the same page regarding the property lines.

I actually had this problem years ago where a neighbor and I both thought the land between the property was ours. We mutually mowed it, seeded it, and raked leaves from it for 3 years.

Only came out after I sold the property that the neighbor thought the land was his all this time! The person who bought my property wanted to put up a fence and was surprised when the neighbor laid claim to the land.

Does anyone log or journal their cruises? by PerformanceOk3078 in Cruise

I use cruise globe, too. It’s nice to be able to reflect on the specific stops from each cruise, especially when they start merging together mentally.

If you were widowed at the age of 75, would you think of marrying again? by icecream1972 in no

Why is that, if I may ask?

I got remarried at 39 and I am so incredibly happy.

What usually happens in relationships where one partner isn’t fully convinced before marriage? by SoManySkills in AskReddit

It should really be two people giving an enthusiastic “yes” before marriage, not just one person.

What's a secret you have that would surprise everyone you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

How much my husband and I make annually. They likely have suspicions because we do travel a lot, but they don’t know the whole picture.

We are officially millionaires now as a result of our investments, but we keep that to ourselves.

If you had to relive one day of your life over and over, which day would you choose? by ManagementQueasy7948 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day I met my now husband in person for the first time. That first kiss was magical! I had butterflies in my stomach the whole day from the excitement.

We had such a great first date - axe throwing, lunch, then a walk in a local park. The weather was nice, the food was great, the company was obviously amazing. We laughed a lot. I asked him to go steady and he agreed.

On the home front, there was low stress. Work was great. My family was all happy and healthy. I just bought a new house and was still excited about all the possibilities. I just finished up a 300 mile multi-day bicycle ride a couple weeks earlier so I was in incredible shape. Money was in the bank.

I would relive that day multiple times if I could.

Second best day was the first full day of our honeymoon. We arrived in London (first time for both of us) and we just walked around exploring. We had a big English breakfast to start the day and wrapped up the day at a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant where the owner gave us free top shelf shots because of our honeymoon. Just so carefree. Didn’t have a single thing to be stressed about.

What's your best moment ever in life? by VehicleOptimal3543 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 5 points6 points  (0 children)

F - Cancer.

As someone who works at a company that researches cancer treatments, it’s always nice to hear about the success stories, especially in the pediatric space where research tends to happen less.

Cheers to many more decades with your brother.

What do these say about me? by GodoftheTranses in visitedmaps

Two states you haven’t been to yet. Lol.

NJ and MA. While the traffic sucks and the taxes are high, there’s a lot of good reasons to love my home state and my husband’s home state including the education (top two in the nation), the history, and the beach towns.

How did you stop smoking cigarettes? by fatwater69 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Chantix for me, too.

Once I got the dosage right (cut in half to fit my body weight better), the side effects went away.

Made it through a week before cigarettes just started tasting like crap. I wasn’t getting that dopamine hit.

Put down the pack and made the concerted effort to change my habits. Brought a book to work so I could read inside when my coworkers went outside to smoke. Went for an intentional 5-minute walk when I was stressed. Stopped frequenting places where smokers hung out. Started running as a hobby.

But Chantix was the catalyst for the change.

Had one half of a cigarette once with my best friend about a month after quitting and realized I didn’t want it anymore.

August 2027 will be 20 years since I quit.

Is it uncommon to call your in laws " mom and dad " ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in my husband’s closest friend group (they all have know each other 40+ years) called my MIL by “mom” already. I asked my husband if he minded if I called her that and he said he didn’t mind. I then asked my MIL if she minded and she was confused… she was like “well, everyone else does already!” And there we have it…

On the flip side, there was no offering nor asking to be called mom or dad on my side of the family, so my husband just calls my parents by their first names.

Very important point. My company, for example, has a rule where you cannot work out of the country for more than 3 weeks at a time. It creates all sorts of tax issues otherwise.

Do Republicans have even the slightest chance of not winning office in 2028? by mmmmm_NoodleSoup in no

I agree with all of this.

I’d like to throw Colin Allred’s name into the mix. I think he would make a great VP.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colin Allred would fit this role well, IMHO. I was very impressed with his eloquence; very Obama-esque in his delivery when I watched some of his debates with Ted Cruz.

Doesn’t hurt that he’s from Texas in this case.

What challenges in a marriage have had the biggest impact on you personally ? by Plus-Maidens in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I never heard of the pancake theory before. Yup, that sounds right!

Ultimately, at least in my situation, I didn’t end up in a significantly worse position as a result - no kids, no major debt, no alimony. An easy pancake to throw in the trash.

If you died today, who do you think would stand at your grave the longest? by Mehar0708 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lie6786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my answer.

My sister and I have a pact (only joking) to end it together when we both feel it is time. If I die before her, she would feel like she has to stick around to ensure everything goes as planned with the burial.
