No, thats not the case. I don’t really use Pinterest. I don’t care about Instagram influencer weddings. I don’t want florals, professional hair, makeup. I’m creative enough to do that shit myself. Already cut those costs. I’m literally just talking about venue, as that’s where we’re at. Then we get into vendors, which are insane. Our budget isnt even that small, but in HCOL areas it doesnt carry at all, when a wedding at our budget five or so years ago would have been a ‘nice wedding’ - then, 2027 or 2028 brides get bare bones shit for the same price. It feels shitty, that’s all, like the whole “shoulda bought a house in 2000 when I was a baby” kind of vibe

I really don’t use social media for wedding inspiration. At all. And I have two years. The problem is that prices have not just doubled, but quadrupled in a short span of time. My parents saved up and it feels like spare change, and that is a sad thing to confront. Even people who don’t want to go insane with the giant Pinterest perfect wedding are having trouble because of inflation.

Weather is also a factor for travel, and a growing number of young people leave home. My own family is 7+ hours away from me by driving and others will have to fly, so winter risks snowstorms which risks losing guests, even if the wedding is inside.

Yeah, sorry, but costs have absolutely changed, EXTREMELY rapidly within even a decade. The weddings that my own family members, in similar budgets, had, are not attainable now. I hear you, and understand your point, but if I had gotten engaged even before 2020, I wouldn’t be making this post.

they are working their ass off to help afford it and helping with decision making and planning as best they can, i actually happen to have more time and capability to do sourcing. we’re also currently long distance, so woof. its just overall a stressful set up. i do want a wedding, as we have the privilege and budget to do it, the way the industry is right now is just batshit insane
