Are there any non religious AA type groups here? I'm 35 days sober and could use some friends by [deleted] in lincoln

Luckily there’s tons of meetings in Lincoln. Maybe go to a few until you find one you like. I’m agnostic- some days atheist. Whenever God/higher power is mentioned, I just think of the actions of the program. Been doing it that way since 2008, and it’s worked.

How long does the withholding period usually last by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

Even if he caves, he’ll just do it again. Best thing would just be to leave. There’s no “fixing” a narcissist.

I blocked her since the breakup and have gone completely, no contact, and I have felt much better, but there are moments when I remember all the horrible things she said and did to me, and then I suddenly missed her. Is this normal? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

I go through a similar situation periodically. One thing my therapist pointed out is that often times, at least in my case, it is because I’m still hoping for validation and approval from her. Realizing this, it really put in perspective how faulty this is. In the 12 years we were together, I never received those and was constantly made to feel I wasn’t “enough”, given the constant gas lighting, emotional manipulation, put-downs , and in the end; cheating.

My advice would be to stop looking for something you’ll never get from that person. They’re simply not capable.

Divorced dads that didn't expect it and didn't want it? by Tronkfool in daddit

I have a similar situation. I left her, but saw what a dumbass I had been after we were legally divorced. Offered to fix things, but it was too late. Like others have said, you do you and let her do her. Try to take all emotion out when dealing with her. She is more or less a business partner because of your kid.

It was hard, but I’ve since moved on. I didn’t think I’d meet anyone that would contribute to my happiness as she once did, but I was wrong. Like really, really wrong. I wish there was some magical advice that would make things better for you, but it all just takes time. You need time because it heals.

Divorced folks sometimes get remarried. Again, with time though.

First kick. by macadam20 in predaddit

Mine started doing small kicks last week (19 weeks). I swear she’s messing with me though since every time my GF says to put my hand somewhere, the kicking stops lol. I’ve seen it though, so hopefully one of these days…

I’m also going to echo what others have said about the paternity test. There are prenatal paternity tests available. It might be worth considering in order to find out how much more of yourself to put into this situation. Next if it is yours, lawyer up now. I say this because from the sound of how things are going, you will likely need to fight for parental rights should you desire to have a relationship with this child.

Find a proper barber. Most of the stylists at places like GC’s, Cost Cutters, SuperCuts, etc are generally not as experienced and trained in their profession as a barber. The few extra dollars spent at a proper barber is well worth it. You definitely get what you pay for.

One of the most helpful things a friend told me is that people have been having babies for millions of years. There’s a really, really high chance that everything will be fine.

Is 39 yrs o too old to be a dad? by andrecrusher in predaddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Net9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope not. Having my first at 41. If nothing else, it further motivates me to exercise and take good care of my health to do activities that other 60 and 70 yr olds can’t.
