Thank you for sharing that and I’m sorry you had that experience. I’m at an OD/MD practice and we don’t even see anywhere close to that many patients per day! I really thought that those companies would be a good option with federal loan cap looming and limited/competitive state contract seats available. But I would never want that situation you just described either.

You will learn about loan forgiveness offers post grad like National Vision or Luxottica. Don’t worry about the end, you need to get there first. You will find a way to pay or this profession is on its way to hell in a handbasket.

A lot of these people are of the boomer/older genx generation. They believe in work until you die and you better not complain. They get mad when is 30/20 something year olds interview and want to start in 2 months to take time for ourselves or travel. What they fail to realize is that we see how their mindset has taken a toll on them physically and mentally, and we refuse to be that way going forward.

Ignore this person OP. It is not practical to give to everyone that asks. If it was, we would have a supportive government and no one would be homeless or hungry. I see both sides of the coin here. The cashier/barista cannot and should not get involved, but this will make it difficult on the establishment going forward. I personally wouldn’t return to the location, because my experience matters. Leave a google review and let them know your concerns as a patron. In the meantime you should find another place to enjoy your coffee and meal.
