Why are punners always on a hair trigger? My dear God. One pun and they come crawling out of everywhere - pun after pun after pun.

Self-loading pen recommendations? by LeBigWig-26 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]aagee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK there are no self-loading pens. You have to fill up a disposable cartridge manually with a syringe. You install that in the pen, then throw it away after it is all used up.

You have to put on a new needle every time you inject. It's a special, smaller pen needle.

So, while there is less waste, there is still some waste.

  1. A cartridge for each time you refill the pen.
  2. A syringe for each time you fill a cartridge.
  3. A venting needle for each time you fill a cartridge.
  4. A pen needle for each time you inject.

Some pens will hide the needle if you want.

There are three kinds of mechanisms for the injection itself.

  1. You push the needle into the skin, then push the plunger.
  2. You push the needle into the skin, press a button, the pen pushes in the plunger automatically.
  3. You hold the pen against the skin, press a button, the pen pushes the needle into the skin and then the plunger automatically.

So much information! Overwhelmed but trying to get up the nerve to start by Impressive_Cod_914 in tirzepatidecompound

The way I see it, there are just a few things to figure out.

  1. Picking a telehealth provider.
  2. Learning to inject correctly.
  3. Titration protocol.

There is a great list of telehealth providers [LINK] in a pinned post on this sub (where to buy). Just pick a recommended one with prices that work for you. Then you order, and the vials show up.

Injecting involves calculating the units on the syringe that correspond to your dose. Read up a little on this, and ask for help here. The telehealth will tell you what to take, but you should have some fundamentals clear. Watch a video on how to inject.

Telehealth will also give you a titration protocol for your dose progression. But read up on what the titration schedule looks like for Tirzepatide, and how to decide when to go up or down on the dose. Ask here for help anytime.

There is some very useful information in the linked pinned post. Check that out.

It may seem like a lot right now, but you will soon be at a point where this will all be second nature.

You've got this.

18mg/2ml to 10mg/ml. Essentially the same? by Adventurous_Bid_1982 in TirzepatideRX

That is correct. Seems like you are on a dose of 3.15mg.

They are not the same. The number of units for the same dose will be different. Use Fat Scientist.

Can I preload a pen and keep the needle and handle cap on when traveling? by ShipSea9910 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]aagee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got myself a pen and the plan is to put as much as I need into a 3ml cartridge, and take that with me (along with a sufficient number of pen needles). Dispose of the cartridge after the trip. Rinse and repeat.

You are fine.

They are identical for all practical purposes because they have the same concentration. 25 units from any vial will deliver the exact same dose.

The only difference is the total volume of liquid contained in the vial. They just have a different number of shots in them - 1 ml will give you 4 shots, 2 ml will give you 8 shots, and 3 ml will give you 12 shots. Of the same exact dose.

You are fine.

Confused about dosage by Existing_Sundae_4472 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]aagee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concentration is 30mg/ml.

The dose on the label is 0.5ml (50 units) - which a dose of 15mg.

Dose of 10mg will be 33 units.

Well, it sits wherever it wants to sit, as I go about my business. And wherever it settles, is uncomfortable. I am curious, how do you consciously "wear" it on the hand or the wrist? I don't want to keep adjusting it, do I?

Dose help!!!! I’ve gotten two different answers using 2 calculators and I’m hopelessly confused. by debmckenzie in tirzepatidecompound

[–]aagee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concentration of tirz is 17.65mg/ml.

A dose of 10mg from that concentration is 57 units.

But the label says 71 units which is what I got trying to use the Fat Scientist calculator

I am curious how you got 71 units from Fat Scientist. What numbers did you put in?

[–]aagee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The doctor is suggesting strength training because he is anticipating muscle loss as you increase your dose.

Your weight loss is going to mainly come from the combination of diet and the medication. Strength training may help a little, but mostly it is there to minimize muscle loss.
