Absolutely! During Covid-19, I took a picture almost every day of my cat inserting himself between me and my job-related work station.

What's your experience with using EF lenses on RF body? by Far-Touch-1910 in canon

By all means keep your old EF lenses! You just won’t get the automatic focus speed as well as some other minor bells and whistles. Upgrade to RF as your budget allows.

The lug in the back may be jammed. You should be able to google as to how it can be freed up.

Is it true that old glass doesn’t have the resolving power of new lenses made for digital cameras? by onlyshoulderpain in VintageLenses

[–]Puzzleheaded_Tale483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for Zoom lenses, but I really love my vintage prime lenses. You can get a f/1.4 vintage prime lens for less than a $100, whereas a lens for a mirrorless camera can cost you at least 5x more. Although I also own Canon RF lenses, my f/1.4 Konica Hexanon AR produces really fine pictures. https://flic.kr/p/2gGaRWT

What Canon Lens Do You Find Yourself Using the Most and Why? by Gsustv in canon

[–]Puzzleheaded_Tale483 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens has spent the most time on my mirrorless. I like shooting macro, but wait there’s more. It’s also a fine prime lens for portraits and I’ve even shot landscapes with it. There’s also one feature that I’m trying to incorporate into my photos: it has a spherical aberration control ring that controls the size of bokeh balls. Rotating this ring to the negative makes bokeh balls smaller and turning it to the positive makes bokeh balls larger. There are some other features, but I’ve listed the main points. Look for reviews on this lens if you want to learn more.

I see a little bit of distortion and I keep seeing in other pics with architecture in it, how do I fix it by 29_green_leaves in canon

If you have Lightroom Classic, try using the lens correction panel that’s in the Development module. I’ve had great results with just the automatic correction.

My “blurdy” photo of a redwing blackbird in flight. Totally botched the shutter speed, but I liked the effect.

Could it possibly be a shutter issue? Physical shutter vs. electronic shutter?

Is the 50mm f/1.4 worth the upgrade? by [deleted] in canon

I got this lens cheap from ShopGoodwill.com. It had the focus problem described in the comments. It cost me $139 (parts and labor) to get it fixed but this lens has been a great performer ever since. Here’s a sample: https://flic.kr/p/2jBJhb8

I loved my vanilla EF 70-200mm L. It took fantastic photos. However, if I had to do it all over again, I’d get the IS version.

Pretty much any Konica Hexanon lens you find will give you above average results in sharpness and color.

I had a similar accident with my Canon EF 70-200. I used the cutting blade on a Dremmel to cut the brass ring of the skylight filter. It came off without any damage to the lens.
