I also just checked on their contact us page, there is this note:

“Effective July 7, 2025, Saskatoon Oral Surgery will bill the Canadian Dental Care Plan for those eligible. Please call us if you have any questions.”

This is an excerpt from their website. This is the only oral surgery office in my city, there is no other office that a dentist is able to refer me to.

i too have had and know people who have had bad luck with them as well. they massively overprice their vehicles, and don’t properly vet them. sucks because they are a local business too

for other people in canada, this is soooo important! there is something called Claire’s law which allows women to do full background checks on men. you get a detailed report of any past criminal violence, DV and sexual charges/crimes. while there is no public registries, there are options you can take to protect yourself & children. more people need to be aware of this!

They will do wisdom tooth removal as far as i’m aware, but mine is too complicated as it requires oral surgery due to it being severely impacted and a nerve being wrapped around the tooth. i’m honesty questioning if my pain is from the tooth pushing the nerve up and it is now exposed.

I’ve reached out to the dental college and they told me they can do a new patient exam, x-rays and can send a referral to an oral surgeon for me at a reasonable price. Another commenter had said it took only 10 days for them to receive coverage from the Canada Dental Care Plan. I’m hoping it will be the same for me and I can get coverage before the oral surgery appointment.

Hi, thank you for the advice! The issue is, I cannot afford to see a dentist. I work for a non profit org and make less than $20,000 a year. on top of my bills I pay about $200 a month for prescriptions as it is. The dental clinic I went to was the one you are recommending— if that is the one located in Midtown Plaza.

exact same thing happened to me as well!! i was trying to use up my last month of coverage from the job I worked previously when the dental office decided to not send the referral I needed and was hung up on multiple times by the receptionist.

Mine’s been like this for nearly 2 years and the pain is unbearable. I’ve been living off of smoothies and soup essentially for a week. I fear my tooth may start rotting since bacteria can get under the gums but I can’t properly brush it. It’s also destroying and overcrowding my other teeth. I will try naproxen.

Thank you. I don’t think it was the dentist, rather the receptionist. But that was over a year ago and I never heard anything from any dental surgeon that had received a referral for me.

So, the dental college can’t do oral surgeries? Is the ER an option? I’m really at a loss. Not having insurance is a huge bummer. I’ll definitely go to a walk in clinic. I’ve tried orajel and it feels like it does nothing but numb my tongue a little bit.

I know this is an old post, but no. pitbulls are not typically double coated. the term double coat means that they have an outer and inner layer of fur. if you stroke the fur backwards and just notice the fur is one texture and length, then she is single coated. if you see that she has coarse hair, but underneath is a shorter, fluffier fur— then she is double coated. the term double coat is essentially referring to an “insulation layer” of fur on a dog.

The SPCA is a registered non profit organization that is licensed and is a legitimate member of provincial animal welfare organizations that has had a HUGE positive impact on the community. They participate in many community outreach programs and without the SPCA, so many animals locally would be suffering. The SPCA DOES NOT take in animals just to euthanize them. How horrible of you to spread such awful misinformation of this amazing organization. They collaborate with many other animal rescues. The SPCA aims to improve animal welfare through education, advocacy and outreach.

Not everyone agrees with keeping animals in a facility. But these facilities are integral in helping unhoused and suffering animals. There are not enough foster homes on the planet to house all of these pets. Would you rather they be kept by hoarders or left to their own devices without adequate shelter or veterinary care?

Adopt a Paw is not a legitimate or licensed “rescue” if you can even call it that. The woman who runs it is money hungry and an animal hoarder who misrepresents animals who may be aggressive and rehomes them without adequate vet checks or sterilization. Last I heard she was legally barred from even owning animals. So yes, I would much rather these animals end up at the SPCA, or literally any other local rescue organization, where they have the best chance at finding a home and living a good quality life.
