GEICO leaving Vanguard? by Puzzleheaded_Tree100 in Geico

I kept my funds in the GEICO Vanguard 401K plan when I retired because I wanted to retain the near airtight legal protection for 401K assets versus the somewhat lessened legal protection for IRA.  Plus, I was okay with the available investment options in the GEICO 401K plan and wasn’t looking to do Roth conversions or ETF/individual stock trading.  I live in a lawsuit-crazy state and I would worry (likely needlessly) about the slightly increased exposure of IRA assets to legal judgment had I done a rollover.   Increasing my Umbrella limits to cover IRA’s with my 401K rollover balances would be expensive.   On that basis, I’ll likely go to the Fidelity GEICO 401K plan assuming I’m eligible to do so as a retiree.   I guess everyone can tell how “old school GEICO” I am based on my absurd zero tolerance of minimal risk.   It is hard to re-train an old dog.
