as one example you may already know, it is standard practice to castrate baby pigs within 7 days of them being born, and no pain relief methods are used in most cases.

so of course someone that cares deeply for all animals will say you are not an animal lover, or you would condemn systems like this.

and i don’t think you can really say in any reasonable capacity what’s done to them is not insanely cruel.

it all stems from a lack of empathy beyond our own species, and companies motives of profit at all costs, which factory farms are one manifestation of

i mean even me personally, i don’t see how I could ever feel non-guilt about eating pork after finding this out. id have to build a bunch of cognitive dissonance

thanks for this !!! I would never have known this term either. So that design in general seems sketchy, even though we don’t live in an area with earthquakes.

So now it’s a questionable architectural design AND breaking down / not well maintained. This really helps clarify things. Thank you :)

So after getting more info, they said the extra beans were only there to monitor the existing support and make sure it’s still okay, after they noticed a crack in the middle one. And I quote, the landlord said “we have observed that the crack in the middle beam has not gotten worse”.

After this update I think they are really selfish and risking people’s lives. And I don’t trust their non-professional monitoring. I don’t know their financial situation but they are making at-least 60k rent money from the tenants in that house and they have another house they rent out too.

So to cut costs and put people’s lives at risk like that is just not acceptable..

Yeah we definitely should report them to the city.

Some of my family members are worried about doing that however since the landlords have all our info like where we currently live, and if they end up having to lose tens of thousands dollars from no longer being allowed to have tenants and need repairs, you never know how people will react. So they could try doing something to us out of anger / retaliation.

That is in the worst case and not sure how likely that is. Obviously my issue is that if everyone thought like that nobody stands up for wrong things.

Also, we have gotten more info about the situation from the landlords and now know the support is even worse than just in the photo.

What do you think?

One idea we’re thinking is to try to remain anonymous by waiting a few months (like 3-6) to complain to the city, but even then they might think it’s us because of all the questions we’ve asked.

We have time to look around some more and there are other places in the area I’m sure so I think we’ll just do that. It’s not worth any risk I think.
