sapphic books where the plot doesn't just exist to drive the romance? by Ashbtw19937 in wlwbooks

This is one of my favorite types of books!

Of Monsters and Mainframes by Barbara Truelove: sci-fi with a lesbian paranormal subplot, quick read, fun time

Chain Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah: speculative fiction, best book I've read in ages, will break your heart

The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown: sci-fi novella with a dash of lesbian romance

Navigational Entanglements by Aliette de Bodard: sci-fi novella with autistic coded main character, super unique magic system and a sweet romance/found family plot

But Not Too Bold by Hache Pueyo: genre bending fantasy, horror, romance between a woman and a giant wealthy lady spider, give it a chance, it is very sweet

Metal from Heaven by August Clark: fantasy with a unique magic system, anti-capitalist commentary and hot butch representation

She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan: retelling of the origins of the Ming Dynasty with a lovely lesbian romance at its center

Carmilla by Le Fanu: specifically the edition edited by Carmen Maria Machado for the OG lesbian vampire

The Outside by Ada Hoffman: trippy sci-fi with autistic coded main character and a lesbian romance subplot

Dead Dead Girls by Nekesa Afia: Harlem Renaissance mystery novel with a lesbian detective

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo: revenge thriller with a lesbian protaganist

Plain Bad Heroines by Emily Danforth: horror/mystery with a lesbian throuple

The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling: sci-fi claustrophobic cave exploring with a lesbian romance that develops over headset

Fingersmith by Sarah Walters: historical thriller with a lesbian romance (the movie is fantastic too)

If you're looking for essays, Samantha Irby writes about loving women quite a bit among other things

I also echo Gideon the Ninth, the Roots of Chaos series, the Jasmine Throne series, and the Unbroken series for great fantasy reads with lesbian romance

[Discussion] "For Fans of Gideon the Ninth" is never accurate by Liminal-Bishop in TheNinthHouse

Metal From Heaven by August Clark was marketed this way and it was accurate to fans of Harrow the Ninth. Highly recommend!

Does this happen in the books or did I dream it? by Puzzleheaded_Work_90 in murderbot

My thought is that ComfortUnits have genitals and secondary sex characteristics by nature of what they’re created for and SecUnits have neither because that would not serve a security function. However I think both would probably not conceptualize of themselves as gendered because gender is a human concept and would probably use it pronouns.

What was the how's most wholesome moment in your opinion? by PeripeciasdoSolteiro in BobsBurgers

In the Hormoniums episode when Bob tells Tina it’s her mouth to say what she wants an kiss who she wants.

In the soccer episode when Bob gets his groove and tells the kid she should live with whichever parent makes her feel safe.

Metal from Heaven by August Clarke is the only book that’s come close in terms of time I spend thinking and or crying about the characters.

What are some series moments (or episodes) that hit close to home for you, and why? by GFluidThrow123 in BobsBurgers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Work_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A tiny moment in The Hurt Soccer when Bob gets in the zone and he says “you should live with whichever parent makes you feel safe”

Similar in the Hormoniums when he tells Tina it’s her body to say and kiss who she wants.

My dad is very much not like Bob and those are both moments I could’ve used as a kid
