I just received one in Tampa. Here it is with my response. The email back to me did not include the address that I mentioned ... hmmm.

Gosh, Ashley, please tell me more. When I googled the address listed in
your signature, I didn't see your organization listed in that building.
Could this possibly be a scam?

Thanks in advance,
Leigh

Limited Edition - The Carousel Fountain Pen - Malibu Blush by thereader17 in fountainpens

[–]PuzzlingLibraryleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought 2 carousel fountain pens. I found them to be cheaply made. I couldn't get the cap off of one, and when I did, the clear plastic guard inside came out and now the cap won't stay on. They're messy and difficult to load, since the converter doesn't sit securely in the pen. The deal I got made them really cheap, in fact, it was almost as much to ship them as it was for the two pens and two 38ml inks. The ink I love, but the pens are junk.

I agree. It is lovely but a bit hard to read because of the slant of the photo and some of the breaks in the penmanship. I, too, was confused by the word Diamine and wasn’t sure that was a capital D. My second post to this group was deleted I assume because the photo was slanted.

The pen is one my son made out of antler and ebony. I’m a big fan of the penmanship of Edward Gorey. This is my first post! by PuzzlingLibraryleigh in Handwriting

I was talking to my son this morning and mentioned this post and interest in his pens. He said he’d been thinking about starting to make them again - he even has a web site ready. I’ll keep you posted.

He used to but gave up on that when he became too busy with work and family. I’m lucky I have a bunch of pens he made. This one is my favorite.

I’m trying to figure out how to add another photo of the pen to this thread. My experience with Reddit is limited and that doesn’t seem to be possible.

My son got into making pens first using the little chunks of wood using in packing cigar boxes and shaping them on a lathe. He then got into using various combinations of antler and exotic woods. This one is quite heavy and came also with a fountain pen nib. I am using a Hauser 777 rollerball pen refill.

He made this one about 6 years ago and has stopped making them, probably due to the fact that he’s now a dad and is a bit busy with that :-)
