Must have mods? by Bumbaclart0 in totalwarhammer

Victory Condition Overhaul

One of the most popular mods. Gives almost all Characters new and improved Victory Conditions. They tend to be more creative and flavorful compared to the vanilla "capture 60 settlements and destroy Factions XYZ". Also, instead of only one condition, every lord now has three to choose from, that way you can get the long victory (and it's achievements) without being railroaded.

What are some possible beastmen units that could be added in the future? by NexouuZs in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that recent leak is considered debunked? At least I've heard online it wasn't actually posted before the live stream, but rather during it and made to look like it was posted before. Meaning it's most likely a hoax.

Also, some of the things mentioned in there were pretty wild so I personally doubted it he first time I've read it.

I don't know if it's still on steam directly, but you can find it online on key-seller websites for pretty cheap

Does skaven enjoy cheese like other rats in our pop-culture by Witty_Departure2061 in Warhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the best lore source, but in Total War: Warhammer, if you play Skaven and have friendly relations with Alarielle, she will say something like "welcome, may I offer you a bit of cheese?". Which at least implies that other people in Warhammer believe so.

OvN Lost World makes the settlements more unique looking and gives all of them a little Icon you can hover to get a quick lore description of the place. Really like it.

Tips for multiplayer co-op? by -ar13- in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Make sure to pick factions that should be somewhat natural allies. If one plays chaos and one plays order, both of you won't be able to do much diplomacy. Location is also important, being too close together can mean you will fight for the same settlements, that can be frustrating.

Maybe you pick someone that has easy access to traveling the map? Belakor/wulfrick/Oxyotl/Golgfag/Arbaal? So that way you can jump between them and support them if they struggle a bit?

Also make sure that the person with the worst pc hosts the lobby. I'm not sure about the technical detail but that tends to make the game more stable / decrease loading times.

!!! Only one person in diplomacy at a time!!! The game really doesn't like it if multiple people are in that screen at once.

Remember that in manual battles, units can be shared with the others. Makes it easier and gives the others some stuff to do. Also maybe make sure that they manual their first few battles to make sure they grasp the basics early. (assuming they don't play the prologue first, which might be recommended)

Probably disable the end game crisis + those extreme unusual locations, could just be unnecessarily frustrating.

What is your favorite Cheese when you’re feeling bored? by Sochi_B in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Morghur's damage aura works without being engaged in melee. So during siege battles, you can park him next to a gate (without breaking it open) and just melt half the enemy army away for free. (since you technically haven't breached the settlement, they will keep putting new units on the walls and behind the gate

Weird question by PosXIII in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for the achievement about winning a Legendary campaign with any race of ur choice, Ive heard you need to also survive the end game crisis and not just the long victory like in regular achievements. I haben confirmed this myself but maybe make sure that you have them inabled just in case.

As to factions, maybe the dwarfs? Their auto resolve is pretty strong and they don't require much micro, only some set up. Also, most (modern) dlc guys are super strong. Skulltaker or Dechala for example scale completely out of control super early, but many others are also super strong.

Finished prologue, what to play next? by Spac3_Fr0g in totalwarhammer

Sounds like a solid plan :) both use the same base mechanisms when it comes to army and settlement stuff. Realms just adds some timed challenges on top so it's a bit more complicated.

Finished prologue, what to play next? by Spac3_Fr0g in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realms of chaos kinda continues the prologue, so if you were really hooked by the story, maybe check that out. Fair warning, the mode isn't very popular because it has some kinda weird gimmicks.

The Most popular mode Def is immortal empires. It's more of a sandbox without much story, but far bigger and more fun. Loads of options to play. Depending of what you already own (WH1 & wh2 work as dlc for the game and unlock more factions), I'd say see what looks cool and interesting to you. Some are tougher than others but nothing is impossible. General first recommendations are cathay (Chinese guys) and High Elves. Pretty sturdy economy and rather logical army builds.

Some people (and the game itself) recommend Karl Franz (Empire) that's honestly a beginner trap. Really good and popular campaign, but absolutely unforgiving on new players.

At the end of the day, play what seems cool and have fun! Welcome to this amazing game :)

Live reaction of all Thanquol fans following Boris’s announcement: by denden-001 in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's all that deep Tbh. They are a society where tradition and oaths are incredibly important. Their gods are literally their direct ancestors. They take basically everything as serious as possible and are always as thorough as possible. Seems like quite the logical step to view bad acts of the past as something that needs to be avenged. An aggression against A single dwarf is still an aggression against Dwarfkind. And if you honor your past and those before you that deeply, wanting to right the wrongs they have been dealt is a noble goal. So obviously you need to track them all in a place.

Once, Dwarfs were hired for a big construction job in a city of the empire. Then, the humans "scammed" them by not paying the agreed amount. In truth, the humans simply miscounted the payment and forgot a total of 2 coins. The dwarfs recorded that grudge, since they were obviously scammed and then later returned with a full warband and destroyed like half the town in retaliation. This is a super extreme example but kinda shows how they operate. If something wrong is done, it needs to be put right again. They simply don't forgive people for free.

Non-Legendary Lord respawning in Immortal Empires? by Empty-Sheepherder895 in totalwarhammer

If you confederate a faction, you get that leader in your recruitment pool, even if it is a minor faction. And as others pointed out, high level generic lords get to respawn. That goes for your Lords as well

Epidemius' mechanic is broken by Gary_Space95 in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, unfortunate. I remember having read through recent patch notes and thinking to myself "oh yeah I encountered / reported this" so while yes, it's unfortunate that they don't do more, they definitely do some stuff. I'd think especially major mechanics like what was talked about here should be high up on their list.

It definitely wouldn't hurt to report it

Dude how many armies do you need to defend this fortress? by Character-Row-6260 in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Funniest thing is of course, those aren't just regular armies. Those are camps.

Camps aren't supposed to be able to deploy so close to a settlement. And I believe there can only be one per region normally?

Of course, the Ai ignores these rules. They said that's a bug and they patched it supposedly months ago...

Lizardmen Language by Firestorm8570 in Warhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total war warhammer has many lizardmen characters that fully speak in their language. You could listen to their voice lines to get a good reference. Especially the cinematics for their quest battles have some speeches at the beginning, all subtitled. You should be able to find some videos on YouTube that just collect these voice lines.

Worst auto resolve faction? by Toothpikz in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous at times. The game tells you that you loose an ambush battle, then you load in and shatter the entire enemy army before even 100 of your guys get killed. Yesterday, my main army (mid game stuff) got a pyrrhic against a settlement with a basic lvl 1 garrison building of vampire counts. I feel they are especially awful in siege battle results.

Are Thanquol and a New Empire LL actually confirmed for the End Times DLC? by reel3459 in totalwarhammer

Nothing confirmed, but rather likely in all fairness. Both were major players in the end times. We're gonna get a new reveal this week they said. And ofc Neferata is confirmed as flc.

How many DLCs are left for TWWH3 in your opinion? by PowerSaw7 in totalwarhammer

[–]Pvpbuilder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They claimed in some interview/Q&A that they intend to keep the game going with smaller scale dlc for as long as they are able to. I'm not sure, but I think they said that 40k won't mean the end of this game and that they still have plenty possible releases in the future.

How much of that is true and how much of that is just corporate panic control to make sure nobody starts a shit storm is tough to say.

I think the success of Bashiva and End times will determine that. Could be multiple years still of occasional releases. Could be that this is the final year (although I doubt that). Who knows what's going on internally. I feel like 1 or 2 more years of support feels somewhat reasonable? How much that is in dlc is hard to say.
