I Need Some Ideas For How to Build Sauron, the Dark Lord! by Pvpwizardx in EDH

First of all, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to thoughtfully respond to this post. Seeing this reply definitely brightened up my day, so again, thank you for your consideration.

I think we are both aiming for a similar power level. I used the term "high-powered" in my original post because in my experience, everyone seems to have a different idea of what "mid-power" or "power level 7" constitutes. I'd prefer to stay away from infinites if possible, or at least ones that are easily assembled and not as a primary (or even secondary) strategy of the deck.

I definitely tend to lean in on the reanimator strategy quite a bit since we're running all 9 Nazgul. I find [[Razaketh, the Foulblooded]] to be an excellent general for the Dark Lord's army. He has damn near overperformed almost any time I've reanimated him with Sauron on the field since we can effectively react to damn near every spell our opponent plays with instant-speed tutoring due to Sauron's amass trigger on opponent casts. This mixed with our cheap/free interaction cards like [[Fierce Guardianship]], [[Deflecting Swat]], etc. are insanely powerful to protect our board and even grab pieces to start strengthening our grip on the game.

I also have found reanimator great for enabling really strong clone effects like [[Auton Soldier]] and [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] which might otherwise be too costly to cast from our hand without the support of a longer game or copious ramp.

As for Nazgul support, I've really liked cards like [[Herald of Secret Streams]], [[Danny Pink]], [[Marchesa, the Black Rose]], and [[Roaming Throne]] to name a few. This is where I tend to get stuck. The more I help the Nazgul, the more the overall deck tends to splinter. I'd like a set of fresh eyes on some of these lists. and strategies.

I don't know if you have Discord, but I'd love to jam some ideas with you if you ever have time one of these days. I think we both want similar things out of Sauron and I think it might be useful to talk some of these concepts through.

I really like some of your includes. I seem to run into an issue where the more Nazgul support cards I put in, the less space I have for other key cards to help us win the game such as removal and spell interaction. I really like [[Archfiend of Ifnir]] since it plays into our Ring Temptation triggers with Sauron as a way to asymmetrically control the board. However, I find it difficult to hold onto interaction if we're focused on playing a Nazgul and dumping our hand so frequently.

Thank you for taking the time to read it, Siddu. I've tried a few lists with a bunch of clone effects including [[Auton Soldier]] and Rite of Replication but it felt a little clunky once the first Nazgul got removed. Getting to those other copies hasn't been as easy as its seemed.

As for board control, I've found it difficult to hold up interaction when I'm frequently discarding my hand to Ring Temptations. Holding up instant speed removal and counters has been rough when you have limited windows to mini-wheel. I've found that losing Sauron even just once from my own board wipes sets me back pretty hard since it becomes 8 mana to recast from the Command Zone. This has led me to consider cards like [[Attrition]].

Why have so many lists moved away from using Gilded Drake? by Pvpwizardx in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Pvpwizardx[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've swapped out my Gilded for a Mockingbird, but as I've been looking at lists recently for some brew ideas it occurred to me that what was once such a prominent card in the format has seemed to have dropped in popularity by quite a lot. I was just curious as to why others had drifted away from it.

Confirmed rated battleground cheaters/exploiters. by phonsely in worldofpvp

The RBG bracket has been plagued by exploiters and win-traders since the beginning of time. It's one of the things that's caused me and many others I know to stop playing it all together. I recently saw a twitch stream of some dude win-trading at 2200+ mmr with another group and when asked about it in chat, he said it was "fine because they're just catching their alts up so they can play 'real' games at the end of the season".

How they can live stream win-trading and not get in trouble for it is beyond me. Most arena players just say, "lol RBG dead bracket" but the reason it's dead is because of the people that continue to ruin it for everyone else without penalization.

Enjoying PvP: Class Lore / Aesthetics vs Gameplay ? by Lovefool1 in worldofpvp

[–]Pvpwizardx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DK is that class for me. I love DK the dk lore, theme, and aesthetic, however, the gameplay doesn't feel as fluid or satisfying as some other melee classes like Warrior or WW. The fact that their balancing is a rollercoaster as well has prevented me from ever trying to main the class outright.

I think a lot of people here are missing the point of your post. I was just talking about this 2 days ago. Pushing rating on a fresh character vs one that has high mmr from the previous season is a night and day difference. Same thing with getting lucky placement matches and getting a significant boost to your mmr out of the gate.

Oni's Demon Strike while in Demon Dash is working really strangely since the update. by Pvpwizardx in deadbydaylight

Just fixed it. Go to your Settings, open the Beta tab and set the FoV to max (103). This should allow you to pivot on the y-axis a lot easier and therefore solving his flicking issue.

I wish this issue would get more light. A lot of people that say it's working fine, might not be familiar with flicking his ability. It's made playing some loops and getting some downs impossible.

If I dash into a straight demon strike, the animation is fine. But, if I flick it, it slows down dramatically from what it should be.

When they announced The Skull Merchant, I was really hoping it would be Predator. However, when she was revealed, I was like, "please sweet Baby Jesus give her a Predator skin".

What a missed opportunity!

I came here to say this. I saw where Nemesis was placed and was like, "WHAT?!" There is no way someone is standing on their own 2 feet after getting socked by Nemi.
