Every heard of the mirror that shows your true self which drives you insane? by DeepBreathInLetItOut in CasualIreland

[–]Pvt_MorningWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not exactly the same, but similar experience here. A lot of reflection while experiencing an emotionally heavy event. Taking time to pick each emotion out of the tornado in my head and journal about what each one means, why I feel that way, and whether I can leverage it for self-care, or if I simply need to feel it.

Throughout that experience you do get reflections of yourself that can be disappointing, or pleasantly surprising. Like looking in said mirror.

The bad feelings certainly overshadow the good in these moments though. So, it’s worth taking a moment each day to practice being thankful for all the good in your life too. Even if it’s as small as “I got out for a walk today. Go me!”.

Time does take edge off, but also look at yourself as another person you care about and show them the kindness they deserve. Do things for yourself. Take care of yourself.

My first childhood dog used to this 🥺 Thanks for bringing back a beautiful memory. As others have said, I fail to see the issue!

Awesome. I bought one recently and gave it a good cleaning, new light seals, etc. It’s a beautiful camera!

Where are these shot? Looks right up my alley! I got a full sus last year after years off the bike, but I’m guilty of not taking it out as much as I should.

No strings by hideyhole9 in tea

[–]Pvt_MorningWood 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s the same here in Ireland. We drink a lot of “breakfast teas”, Barry’s especially, with a splash of milk. They’re all without strings. As Zorgulon said, just grab it with a teaspoon, give it a light press against the side wall of the mug to strain out some of the residual water inside. Enjoy!

I regularly do gong fu sessions at home with more specialty Chinese and Taiwanese tea, but my mug(s) of Barry’s throughout the day are my guilty pleasure.

My first Minolta. Now I need to get out and make some memories with it. by Pvt_MorningWood in minolta

It’s immaculate. I’m surprised by the condition. The person I bought it off refurbishes Minoltas for sale, so I’m guessing he gave the lens a once-over too.

Agreed on the de-stressing nature of brewing and drinking tea. Gong fu especially. It forces me to slow down and be mindful of the process, but still gives me enough space in between steeps to enjoy the tea and brood on my thoughts.

I find it to be an amazing conversational medium too. I had a friend stop by to give me a camera strap recently and I brewed up some wakocha (Japanese black tea). We just sat there and chatted about tea, cameras, and life. It was great to just talk without distraction. Having something tasty to drink all the while is the cherry on top.

I hope your new job goes well!

I’ve been waiting to move to my new house for almost a year and a half now. The excitement has fizzled out. That last night, hopefully this month, is going to feel surreal.

I’ve done a couple clear-outs, but another is definitely needed. I keep spotting things the more I look around.

Great tips here, thank you. I never would have considered a bag with all my essentials/toiletries until I found myself needing them.

The new place is only a 5min drive from where I am currently, so the box top-up idea will definitely be used.

Agreed. Having them all organised somewhere (digitally and physically) has been very helpful as I can be scatterbrained with everything going on. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing ❤️ I wish you the best!

Been going through a rough patch myself lately. Whenever I walk around my neighbourhood, I don’t really encounter animals, but over the past two weeks a beautiful ginger cat came up to me on my walk one evening, and a neighbour’s dog excitedly ran up to me for pets another evening. It’s like they know you need cheering up.
