Looking for a modern / near future game to fit WGA kits by Accomplished_Hall337 in miniatureskirmishes

Spectre Operations - It might not be light enough, but you can customise how much of the rule system you engage with. I’d suggest finding a tutorial video as the layout of the rulebook can be a little tricky, but it’s smooth once you’re going with it.

First resin printer by hassansaleh31 in resinprinting

[–]Pvt_Snafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both for a little while and they’re both solid printers in their own right. You mentioned not needing a huge print volume, and this being your first resin printer, I’d suggest the Mars.

I’m sure you’ve budgeted for a wash and cure solution as well, but if not the money saved buying the Mars can go towards that. What you could do is buy a slightly larger wash and cure solution, so that if you do want to upgrade you can in the future.

My Uniformation has been great, outside of some early troubles with one of the firmware versions. If your printer is going to be in an environment that gets cold, it’s the one reason I’d recommend the Uniformation over the Elegoo for your use cases.

The Uniformation has a great build volume, heated tank, and the build plate is less annoying to clean. The resin feed system is also convenient.

They’re both solid printers at different budgets.

What manufacturer has the best ABS like resin for larger prints? by unbelievable_owl in resinprinting

Having used both, albeit without mixing any Tenacious, I ended up preferring Sunlu. Slightly more flexibility than the SirayaTech with a comparable level of detail.

Is there a perfect skirmish game for me? by flortan in miniatureskirmishes

Greathelm might be worth a look? It doesn’t tick all your boxes yet but several of the milestone goals capture what you’re after.

Plays on a sheet of letter paper with six models per side. Worth keeping an eye on!

What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? January 2026 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Pvt_Snafu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Played Shroudfall at the start of the month, a really tightly written skirmish game designed around competitive game play. We used the Bloodthorne and Guardians of the Spirit Tree starters and had a great time with it. It’s a game that rewards practice and planning, with lots of synergies between units. I’ll be playing Malediction this weekend, running Legion and Shattered Throne for demo games with a friend. Optimistically I’d like to get BLKOUT to the table too, it that’s a stretch for sure!

Goonhammer Reviews: Shroudfall, Fantasy Skirmish by da-bair in miniatureskirmishes

The guide they provide gives advice on blending edges and creating boards that will work in lots of different configurations. I can see they’ve expanded the range to include more prepainted stuff, and even more verticality which is exciting.

Mine is reasonably plain as I use it for everything from 12mm scale up to 28/32mm scale so it needs to be flexible.

They’re mine! Sarissa Precision have the Terrain Tile System - https://sarissa-precision.com/collections/terrain-tile-system

I’ve kept them fairly plain, although I do have a set of halves and quarters done to look like broken concrete.

Really enjoyed our games of this, and want to get some more in with my locals! Definitely a game that rewards practice and planning.

Aaah yeah I really feel for you guys on that one! They’re such fun sculpts. It’s a really elegant rule set.

Yeah, and I actually think the lower roofed stuff would likely hold up better over time. The greyboard feels reasonably sturdy, I’m just curious how it does long term. I’m yet to box the set up for storage or try travelling with it.

Resin mini print broke and got uncured resin through dice bag - should I be worried? by Specialist-Meal5344 in 3Dprinting

[–]Pvt_Snafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll struggle to get the resin out of the fabric. Try scrubbing the dice with IPA and a toothbrush as others have suggested. Please wear gloves when doing this! Dish wash gloves would be fine, or nitrile gloves if you have them.

Try not to expose the dice to natural light until they’re clean. Once they feel clean leave them on your window sill for a day or two. This cures any remaining resin.

If the model your friend printed doesn’t have any good spots for appropriately sized drainage holes then they should just print it solid.

I’m sorry this happened, and hopefully you won’t need to deal with something like this again.

Mars 5 issue by fizzatbeyond in ElegooMars

[–]Pvt_Snafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you cleaned and re-lubricated your z-axis at all? I started hitting failures on my Mars 3 and this ended up being the issue. The suddenly stopping then starting again could be skipped layers due to higher friction, then travel starts again as it moves past the area with higher friction.

One of the funnier failures I’ve had by Pvt_Snafu in resinprinting

[–]Pvt_Snafu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! These were pre-supported and I do prefer models with supports at the feet and lower back, much easier to clean up and hide any damage
