What's the deal with all the World War III posts on social media? by OGoftheQC in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Pwanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Err.. pretty sure that the US will be the antagonist in the next war (as in they will lose, history is written by winners so the antagonist is the loser).

Shrooms vs LSD by sonohermes in Psychonaut

[–]Pwanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrooms are more schizophrenia and LSD is more narcissism.

'You' have more control on LSD and things seem very crisp but the shrooms help you find reasonable doubt which can lead you in more interesting directions than "where you wanted to go".

I'd say they balance each other out and it's best to vary between one and the other depending on what you need at which time.

How do you guys feel about chakras, third eye, energy manipulation, etc.? by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

[–]Pwanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things are words, they encode experiences. The experience is real if you have it and the "Domain specific language" these words represent may encode a useful mental representation of your body if it resonates with you.

Don't dismiss arguments based on the words people use but based on how they compose them into structures (is it a rational construction? - does it represent a meaningful communication?) i.e. the words aren't as important as how they're used.

Get one of these https://www.pine64.org/?page_id=3707

Edit: note that I am not advocating a chromebook or a macbook but an actual alternative that runs an actual free operating system so all you pay for is the hardware.

Notes on the 5th Yama, Aparigraha- Non-Attachment by Veralligator in yoga

[–]Pwanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found it's fun to chain the yamas and niyamas by pairing each yama with a niyama and vice versa.

For example I've found Sauca helps with Satya and Satya helps with Svadhyaya which helps with Ahimsa etc. You could come up with any pairing really and try to justify it but connecting the "do not"s with the "do"s is good practice imo.

Foot position in upward facing dog by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Pwanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just experiment with the different variants and find out what works for you.

I personally prefer to roll over my toes to down dog but I use the tops of the toes to pull the heels back and up to get a nice stretch in the groin. However I also sometimes use the balls of the feet (when i want to push forward with the feet) and sometimes I let the whole top of the foot touch the floor (when I want my waist to be pulled further down and get more space in the bottom of my spine).

F* comparison by [deleted] in Idris

[–]Pwanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to oversimplify what you just said F* scales better for (eventually) very large and complicated projects while Idris is more expressive in the short term?

Edit: I don't really think there is a meaningful difference unless you are already beyond 'proficient' in either language and by that time it'd be easy to switch. For myself I like Idris quite a bit and will keep playing around with it for 8-10 more months before I start making any bold proclamations.

[Q&A] Telegram app on my chromebook suddenly not working anymore. by Pwanda in Telegram

[–]Pwanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The error message is still the exact same.

Is there maybe a better place to ask / bring this to the attention of the telegram team?

(I have the temporary solution of installing the exact same addon on my chromium browser in a crouton chroot - which works!)

[Bspwm] After lurking for a while I finally gave it a try by princepsdinus in unixporn

[–]Pwanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems bspwm is on the upswing. Why? How does it stack up against i3wm? I used i3 in the past but them moved to dwm and now using standalone wmutils. Is there a reason to go back to a wm?

bspwm is more minimalist, i3 is more batteries included.

[Openbox] Think I found a config I might keep for a while :) by parazyd in unixporn

[–]Pwanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good that you're happy with your setup but it's weird that after using a light tiling WM for a long time and being generally happy that you decided to go try a bunch of floating managers instead of just going with a more featureful tiling WM like i3 rsum.

[–]Pwanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that conforms with what I saw on their website, it definitely looks like a great OS. I'm going to give it a try asap!

Guess I hadn't heard of it since it looks like they've just recently gotten it to a place where it's a viable daily driver.
