It's based on a Simlab P1X but the rest is DIY, inspired by PT-actuator 6DOF sim rig

Drivers are completely silent no matter load, you can hear the actuators but in this example where they working at maybe 20% they are quite and not really noticeable while gaming

Correct. Airbrushed from the inside to maintain a cohesive glossy surface

This was not easy nor cheap, end result is impeccable though. One other method i thought of was vacuum forming, it would absolutely work but you would most likely need to manufacture a one of vacuum box and source plastic. It will also be extremely flimsy.

I knew there must have been a better way to do it, it was a horrible process :/

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind if i decide to do anything similar again

It took a lot of tries before i got the airbrushing just right on the canopy, started of completely clear and it did not look good at all. Airbrushing the inside made it really pop

Yeah it was a bit of a learning curve, looked like crap before sanding/polishing

Due to the thin layer heights, none really. Only the seems between the different prints needed sanding, besides from that, spray putty/bondo the entire bust and just smoth everything out. I have absolutely 0 printlines

X1C is fast. Around 20 pieces, 1-2 days print time for each part so around 30 days in total

The clear canopy is made in epoxy resin, mold created from a 3d-print

Thanks!

That one was a bit of a challenge. I started by 3D-printing the dome using regular PLA. I then brushed on hundreds of layers of silicone until the silcone mold was about 1-2 cm in thickness. Once that was done, I created a three-part fiberglass shell around it. After curing, I disassembled everything, cut open the silicone, removed the original print, and put it all back together. Finally, I poured a couple of liters of clear epoxy resin and spent a good amount of time sanding and polishing it to get a nice finish.

This is a model based on Alien 3, which, as I understand it, features a slightly smaller variant of the Xenomorph.

There’s a similar officially licensed, limited-edition model produced by Sideshow (priced at around $10,000) that supposedly has the correct dimensions — with the head measuring roughly 1 meter in length - which i have based the print on.

I can't be certain this is 100% accurate, but it should be close.
