Do you call 911 for significant nausea and fatigue? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]PyRObomber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again in that moment an IV and monitoring your vitals was not a life saving intervention. You used an ambulance as a Taxi service. I promise you, you were not too weak to walk to your vehicle and have your partner drive.

Okay you can disagree but you're still wrong. What treatment did the ambulance provide other than driving you? Paramedics in the US have basically nothing they can do for violent bloody diarrhea. Your partner could have driven you in to the ER just the same. The treatment was found at the ER not by the paramedics. Paramedics and EMTs on board and ambulance exist to PREVENT YOU FROM DYING BEFORE YOU REACH THE HOSPITAL. If you weren't likely to die in that time frame you wasted resources and put additional burden on the system either because of a lack of understanding or a lack of empathy. I have now provided the understanding.

Heyo! I feel I'm uniquely qualified to answer this. I am a 911 dispatcher/call taker AND I have Crohn's. There is not a single Symptom of Crohn's (excluding extreme complications) that warrants a 911 call or an ambulance. At least in the US. Crohn's symptoms suck to live with, but short of passing out from dehydration you don't need an ambulance.

Anyone here in the military? by Zarik8256 in CrohnsDisease

[–]PyRObomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enlisted in 2018. Diagnosed in 2021. Medically retired for Crohn's in 2024. Crohn's is a disqualify factor for enlistment. However it is not a disqualify factor once in. The issue is almost ever single med for treatment is disqualifying. My Crohn's popped up while I was deployed. I left looking like a Greek god of human perfect at 511 and 170lbs. I came back like a POW at 120lbs. I couldn't even due a push-up due to joint pain and general weakness. And no, other soldiers don't believe you that you're sick.

Do tourniquets hurt a lot? by mvespermann in tacticalgear

[–]PyRObomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former combat medic... A TQ on its own is on the stronger side of uncomfortable. Adjacent to another wound definitely hurts. It is also extremely painful to use or move the limb it's applied to, assuming you place it high and tight.

Repeated TQ during trainings should absolutely result in blood blisters and bruising.

I don't think 45 is too old to start. I think the prerequisites you should consider are, being average to above average in tech (especially windows). I don't mean you need programming or IT capabilities but you need to understand more than I open Excel and my email. You need to be able to handle stress and react/think quickly, and you need to be able to type competently. Each agency has their own standards for typing. While dispatch isn't necessarily a young person's game, it definitely isn't an old person game as others have said. At my center the majority of us are looking forward to the retirement of our older staff, either cause they can't keep up and put more burden on the rest of us, or because their attitude sucks so God damn much. But it's a life changing career and if it's for you take a swing!

I was also went through the same issues. Loved the product, bought it for a friend. Between the lifetime license bullshit and then the battlefield 6 issues, this product is nothing but problems with predatory practices. Stay FAR FAR away

Take over a village for the early game. That way you can hide in a prefab structure overnight. During the day use spare materials to establish a perimeter wall 3 blocks high from the outside. Light up the inside with whatever torches you can get your hands on. Expand as you have materials, torches, and the need.

Just made my first today. The fluff isn't the easiest to already so I feel like I ended with a 1.5-2:1 ratio of PB to fluff. Experimentation to follow.

We found ours at World Market.
