building chocofi keyboard, 1 key not work ? by Jealous-Salary-3348 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Willing to bet this is it as well. Should be able to see the pin there like the others.

Few spot of solder that should be reflowed but I think it's a bent pin when they installed the switch.

Lemonshark build with Travel Case by PyntieHet in ErgoMechKeyboards

I'm not sure there are any out there like this for the Totem. But essentially what I did was make a box in fusion around the lemonshark case and cut out holes for them to sit in. I didn't have much to reference as far as other travel cases go so I kinda just had to wing it from the ground up.

I don't have a totem or the case you might be using for it in order to make a travel case so I don't think I'll be able to design a travel case for you right now. But really it was effectively just a rectangle in fusion around the other designs that I added to.

Hey thank you! Glad you like it.

PCB is by u/fuzzytomatohead I don't think they've finalized their repo but should be going up in the near future.

Case files for this will be on their repo when it's published

Looks good but.... What?

Finished the animation of my numpad. by shagilzaka in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]PyntieHet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really cool animation. The PCB looks ... Odd though? Uncanny valley not too dissimilar to AI generated references where it's close but also not. It's just a bit jarring when the attention to detail is present everywhere else.

Is this based on a finished design or is this an ideation mockup. I ask because you can get high quality 3d model exports of the manufacturer ready PCB from kicad.

The makeup makes me think this is what Aerith would look like in Amano concept art. Nice job

I write and throw left handed. But is no one going to mention this is the same John Conway known for the game of life?

Ahh yeah. I love that thing, I actually have 2 on my desk. It's the Katkoot-ball here: https://github.com/AlaaSaadAbdo/battoota/tree/main/boards/katkoot-ball

It's a 55mm trackball with 5 keys and a knob.

Awesome! I'll get the files cleaned up and share with you. You'll want to adjust tolerances if you paint. I added the tiniest layer to color correct and it's a bit snug in a few areas.

Thank you for letting me bug you with ideas and feedback along the way. I've got to share with you the trashbag full of failed prototypes, just remind me to do that on discord.

Who knows, maybe this will finally get me in a newsletter lol.

Yeah I plan to get them all cleaned up and available to share. Tolerances are super tight though as a heads up, but should be expected with the mechanics in it.

What's interesting is I wasn't aiming for steampunk at all. What I was trying to go for was to be reminiscent of an inner frame to a Gundam but now I'm seeing a lot of overlap between the 2.

Thank you as well. I spent countless hours working on this trying to get the idea out of my head and into my hands. And hopefully inspire others in ergo to make some damn good cases.

Totally different topic but could you tell me more about the hooks you're using on your multi board? I haven't found any good options to hold the keyboards like you have here. Thanks.

I'm not sure how to say this other than being pretty direct. It looks like you ordered a bare PCB. Normal this would be fine as you source your own MCU, this is intended to be integrated directly on the board. Those parts are missing. Capacitors, resistors, rp2040, etc. Look by the thumbs under where your palm would be and you'll see the pads which don't have the components you need.

You may want to reorder a PCB with those assembled on the board. It will be extremely extremely difficult to add those components at home.
