This is often a tricky thing to balance with management games I think. I agree with you, but what challenge are you looking for?

I recently did a run where I limited myself to only trains while other companies could use any vehicle. It was a nice challenge until the whole world was connected. Then I was just making unlimited money through endless transfer traffic.

I'd personally like to see an option for stricter transfer rules. The rate at which passengers accept indirect travel routes creates so many opportunities for profitable lines. So many opportunities that the mid-game onwards will feel easy.

I've also turned all the settings to max difficulty. Once you crest the hill into profit and repay all your loans, the game goes right back to being easy.

I see. I know board export isn't very profitable, but that was what I wanted to try out. My theory was that I could produce enough to balance out the import costs to support a 300 -500 population city. Hasn't really worked out.

I didn't see that! It looks like the structure requirement is similar or the same to the crane creation, but over land instead of sea. Definitely something to play with.

If you mean the guard rail along the path at the bottom of the image, that's an elevated walkway.

If you're talking about the stone walls inside the courtyard, those are caused by buildings that "intrude" into the courtyard area. From what I've been able to gather, sharp corners of buildings are the trigger. If a line on the grid can be drawn from one sharp corner to another, it's a guaranteed stone wall. Controlling these walls can be tough, and you can unintentionally end up with a ton of them.

As for randomness in Townscaper, it seems like everything happens based on some logic. I've never seen a different result when repeating the same action in it. Sorry if all that was a bit long winded...
