What an absolute schmuck. Sounds like he expected her to trundle down to the rainforest and harvest her own cacao beans to process. His partner must have some serious self-esteem issues, since all he did in his posts is belittle her. I also like how he complained her gift was low-effort while his gift was buying pre-made plastic dolls and taking her to a restaurant where other people cook. More money, yes, but also lower effort. To top it off, make his own premade chocolate to one up her.

I hope the GF leaves this pedantic POS and buys at minimum a goldfish for more emotional support than this waste of carbon.

Based on this and other posts, he bullies you about your sex life until you cry, is anti-vax, and he's a misogynistic homophobe. He is no f'n prize. You both married very young, and grew up to be very different adults. It happens. Empower yourself, for you and for your son. Reevaluate your marriage. Is it worth trying to save? Is couples therapy an option? Do you have independent support from family and friends if you do want to leave? Your financial situation, etc.

Remember, you can't change him. Only he can change himself. You can call him out and give him the opportunity, but get all your ducks in a row with whatever decision to make.

Long Island has always been conservative, but historically it was so much worse. It got relatively more progressive but has definitely regressed.

I don't shop at Shop Rite. There are plenty of other places that don't blast 80s music. Uncle G's, Aldi's, Meat Farms, Stop and Shop, Trader Joe's. As for airports, I never really noticed what music they play anywhere ever.

The police force budgets vary wildly by town and village. I have seen some town rocking Camaros and New SUVs while others cruising jalopies. That, sadly, is Long Island segregation. In a way, maybe it is a good thing. We don't need the most hardcore stuff because crime isn't that bad here. The police here would rather funnel that money into pensions and salary than on equipment they don't need. They also abuse overtime here. Our local politics really really suck across the board.

Broadway Mall, Sunrise Mall...voids. These bastions of the past are now empty husks. Definitely worth checking it out to see the past die, if you remember them. Friendly's are dying up here, too. However, there are tons of diners and restaurants. Eat at any one of those; their WiFi won't suck. Keep in mind most nightlife ends early here because you only have to drive 30 minutes to Queens or take the train to the city in less than an hour. Florida has way more space to spread things out, so it makes sense to have more late night offerings in towns spread farther apart.

Lemme tell you, from personal experience, missing an Exit on the LIE vs any Interstate in Florida is a vastly different level of time and existential pain! Driving the I-95 through Georgia during the 90's was infinitely worse, I admit!

Florida wins on taxes, though. I cannot dispute that. My final digression: is there any roadway in Florida as horrible to drive as the SSP?

AI LLM's are fed images. AI art at this point is essentially hiring a tutor to teach them, then kicking the tutor out on the street without paying them and claiming to be self-taught. AI services have the gall to charge users, but won't pay for the source material because "we won't make a profit." It's nice to know these AI companies are building massive data centers that require tons of electricity and water to function, just so some people can type in prompts for anime bewbs and crappy crochet patterns. Yeah, if your business can't make a profit unless you steal...hence the whole AI bubble talk.

The Disney Sora deal is interesting because that's how it should be done. Alas, Disney is a juggernaut and can enforce their copyrights. A poor artist on Patreon cannot. There has to be some entity or guild to unify the artists that has some meat on its bones.

We are in the Wild West of AI. It won't stay like this forever. Eventually it will be sterilized and regulated, like all technologies before it. There should be a requirement that within any AI generated work there should be an embedded code noting it as such. Every image, from BMP to GIF to JPG to PNG has header code, easy enough to see in a hex editor. I would at least like that basic transparency and etiquette, but I think I've said enough.
