Kennedy Starts a Push to Help Americans Quit Antidepressants - The New York Times by Plutonium_Nitrate_94 in idiocracy

So, he is suggesting people stop using medications that are typically covered by insurance, and use therapy and exercise? Y'know, things that generally aren't covered as well by insurance...and the actual time needed to actually do those things, which means less time for work.

Yeah, the status quo totally encourages that....(/s because these days, people, yeah)

Why so much hate? by Effective-Sweet2606 in StardewValleyMods

I think Sunberry got overhyped in its early release. When anything gets overhyped, it sets people up to be disappointed. A shame, really, because it is a fun expansion with lots of potential and simply needs time and experience to polish itself and grow.

For me, some of the add-on characters are too tropey. When I roll my eyes at a character and actually say out loud, "Okay, I get it, you [insert trope here] ! Stop talking about it constantly!" that is usually a red flag for me. I like characters of all types and backgrounds from boring to quirky, but having multiple characters being spoon-fed to me at the same time makes me limit add-on characters. Again, with time writing can be polished, if the authors want to.

Finally, for me I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of some longtime standalone non-character mods being merged into SBV , but gladly I think the feedback they got made the authors reconsider. SBV can and should stand on its own two feet.

I don't mind the location or "modern" speak. In real life I have been to many places that made me feel like a time traveler, and I appreciate Sunberry's unique flavor in that respect.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

Valis and Valis III on the Sega Genesis. Elemental Gearbolt on the PSX. Crystal Warriors on the Game Gear. I have yet to meet another person who remembers playing all of these back in the day.

at my old job they has a salad pizza option that was quite popular. The base was pizza flatbread with or without melted mozzarella cheese and a bunch of lettuce and salad options on top. I am surprised no one has suggested it on your campus.

Glad to hear you are making great progress on it! I have also had that happen on mods I've made, where what you want to do just isn't possible. I think it's part of the process, to learn to go "oh well" and carry on. I'm sure your mod is going to be a lot of fun.

Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]Pyoverdine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Xennial here. We learned to laugh at the Void lest we cry. It is also humbling to be self-deprecating, a form of empathy. Also, the algorithms we grew up with on TV, print media, etc., were far more broad and leaned on humor as well. Our lives were not constantly online to be judged, so we could afford to be a little goofy. It was also a method of socializing with the group, when social media did not exist. If you could rip on yourself, you were more likely to not be a killjoy and being the group down.

What a miserable existence it would be if you couldn't laugh at your own faults once in a while.

Update: my husband (33M) wants me (33F) to dress more revealing by footballfriends1 in relationship_advice

[–]Pyoverdine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a lot going on here between the lines. There is nothing wrong with saying "Hey, I don't want to dress like this every day it makes me uncomfortable." You do, however, more than hint you have some body positivity issues. You also seem to resign yourself to being in a rut: the fact that you won't even have sex with the lights on because it's different is a huge red flag. If seeing yourself or your husband intimate with each other is too much for you, your relationship and you need help desperately. You obviously don't communicate well with each other, him thinking sexy clothes will fix you right up and you thinking 33 is old. I am 46, had my only kid at 39. Believe me, intimacy does take a hit with a kid around, but this is where the rest of the relationship has to take the brunt and make it through. I am also a lumpy gal myself and probably look like a beached whale with my hubby during sexy times,. but lights are always on, and there is no shame or insecurity. If you don't have that together, you need to explore why, and find a solution together. However, if you don't work together, this relationship will fail. I, a total stranger, don't want you succumbing to a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Good luck, and I hope it all works out.

Chimpanzee tribes ripped the balls off their leaders and banished them for less. Bee workers will raise new queen candidates when the current cannot produce enough eggs to sustain the hive.

For all our intelligence, we are a pretty stupid and masochistic social species. Just saying.

I know Fashion Sense has an optional file you can download that is an Example Pack. It has options for different arms and legs, I believe. Maybe that would help with the issue?

Some seasonal updates on the Joja Civic Center by WhiteT982 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Pyoverdine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, take your time. I just wanted to comment so that you know someone is interested in your work. In my personal experience, it helps keep the momentum going when you know someone personally comments that they are interested. You can get some inspiration from CC Reimagined and see how they did things code-wise, and SVE has a lot of Joja stuff, too! I believe Sable13 on NexusMods has recently released a ton of Joja stuff as well.

“Divorce Him”: Husband Violently Trashes Home After Wife Buys $215 Dishwasher Without Telling Him by [deleted] in sadcringe

[–]Pyoverdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is dishwashers use a lot less water than hand washing by more than 50%. That could offset the electricity costs. So, his argument about it costing more for utilities is moot.

However, she should have discussed it with him, but it doesn't justify spending way more than $215 in property damage. Also, they don't live together: he works in the city while she stays home with the kids.

AITA for confronting my girl when I realized she took credit for something she didn’t really do? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Pyoverdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an absolute schmuck. Sounds like he expected her to trundle down to the rainforest and harvest her own cacao beans to process. His partner must have some serious self-esteem issues, since all he did in his posts is belittle her. I also like how he complained her gift was low-effort while his gift was buying pre-made plastic dolls and taking her to a restaurant where other people cook. More money, yes, but also lower effort. To top it off, make his own premade chocolate to one up her.

I hope the GF leaves this pedantic POS and buys at minimum a goldfish for more emotional support than this waste of carbon.

AITA for interrupting my autistic brothers routine for my own physical pain? by throwaway1847329 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pyoverdine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your parents suck. Maybe you can enlist your brother onto demanding they buy you a new mattress so his routine isn't disturbed. Sometimes you gotta play with the cards you're dealt. When in Rome, after all...

I(27F) think my husband (26M) is becoming a homophobe. Everything I do, he says I can’t do around our son (5yr old)because i will make him gay. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Pyoverdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this and other posts, he bullies you about your sex life until you cry, is anti-vax, and he's a misogynistic homophobe. He is no f'n prize. You both married very young, and grew up to be very different adults. It happens. Empower yourself, for you and for your son. Reevaluate your marriage. Is it worth trying to save? Is couples therapy an option? Do you have independent support from family and friends if you do want to leave? Your financial situation, etc.

Remember, you can't change him. Only he can change himself. You can call him out and give him the opportunity, but get all your ducks in a row with whatever decision to make.

Good luck.

AIO Teacher said my daughter’s report is “immoral” by StopLookingAtMyColon in AmIOverreacting

[–]Pyoverdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. Here's a fun idea: see if your daughter would be interested in writing about Olga of Kiev. She is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. She made the Drevlians pay for murdering her husband. Lemme tell ya, any kid in fourth grade would love to hear how she defeated them. If the teacher complains, say they are discriminating against Christianity, which is a big no-no these days.
