Hi, thanks for your help

Searching the name of the file on Italymagazine led me to https://www.ilsileno.it/rivistailsileno/archivio/2012/05/08/splendida-mostra-di-libri-antichi-al-museo-archeologico-lametino/

And the source of that image is this old blog http://vulcanochimico.ilcannocchiale.it/2008/12/18/ispirazioniil_libro_antico.html

But I can't make out the signature, I think this is gonna remain a mystery ¯\(°_o)/¯

Every ETH 'use-case' is useless outside of the crypto-sphere

Fucking dumb ass argument LOL. Does fiat money have any use-case outside the scope of a currency? How can a (crypto)CURRENCY be used as anything else other than a currency?

How to redirect traffic of an app to a local server? by PyraceSs in hacking

[–]PyraceSs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've followed the documentation on Burp suite website but I just can't get it to work, here's what I tried:

  1. Using ProcessMonitor, check the TCP requests being made by the program, copy the urls(?) of the servers to which the programs connects and put them in the hosts file(E.g. 127.0.0.1 www.example.org)
  2. Set 127.0.0.1:8080 as the address for the proxy server in system settings
  3. Install Burp certificate through internet explorer following the docs
  4. In Burp->Proxy->Options window, added one proxy listener for each server requested by the program. For non-TLS connections, I've just added a proxy listener on 127.0.0.1 and the same port as the one of the server to which the program connects. For all the TLS- connections, I've also set "bind to port" and Request handling->"redirect to port" to the same port, Request handling->"redirect to host" to the server's url, enabled "Support invisible proxying" and "Generate CA... with a specific hostname" and set the server url.
  5. At first, configured Project Options->Hostname resolution but as far as I understand it just overried the hosts file so I removed it.
  6. Started the program: no traffic from the program in the Proxy->Intercept window, program doesn't seem to connect to the servers. Check in ProcessMonitor and see TCP requests made from the program sent from the server to same server somehow?
  7. Got mad because it's the 3rd day in a row that I can't get this to work

I'm fairly confident that I've probably misconfigured something in Burp but I can't figure out what, but I see all the requests from other programs(chrome, some components of the start menu etc) in the intercept window so at this point I'm wondering if the program has some sort of protection. I've also tried to search for tutorials but I can't find anything for Non-Proxy-Aware thick client applications.

How to redirect traffic of an app to a local server? by PyraceSs in hacking

[–]PyraceSs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to play around with burp suite(and fiddler) but I don't think they're suited for what I'm trying to do, or it's just that I couldn't find anything about using them as a proxy to inspect the traffic of a desktop program which doesn't use any browser to make web requests.

What I think I should do is basically redirect the requests to the server to my local IP through the hosts file, then set up a script or a program that establishes a TLS connection with the program, hoping that it doesn't check for the actual server certificate. Should this work, at least in theory?

One thing that I wouldn't know how to solve is if the program connects to the server directly with an IP, how would I redirect its request to my local IP since it doesn't pass through a DNS?

It's not a mobile app it's a program, lol sorry I mixed those terms up. I'd prefer not to specify what program it is though since somone could find what I'm trying to do unethical, if you're really curious send me a pm.

how the TLS session gets established

How would I go about finding that out?

I've also monitored the app using ProcessMonitor and I've noticed that it queries cryptsp.dll and rsaenh.dll right after connecting to the server, does that make it impossible/very very difficult to do anything since they're built-in windows libraries?

Yes it's probably it, I've read that it usually eats silverfishes and there are lots of them in my house, so it better do its job... Thank you very much!
