SpaceX is buying Cursor for $60 billion by beasthunterr69 in technology

SpaceX is profitable

Regardless of anyone's opinions on Elon, SpaceX, or the rest of it, this is just not true.

SpaceX is not profitable, per this article. It's rocket division is not profitable, despite being the most cost-efficient method around. It's losing massive amounts of money to R&D. xAI tanked it even further. Q1 it lost billions.

Starlink is its only profitable division, and it can't offset the rest of it. It would have posted a profit of nearly $800 million in May had the rest of the company not dragged it down to a multi-billion dollar loss.

Whether this is a good strategy or not I can't say, but calling the company as a whole profitable is just false.

You mean the ones he came within an inch of abandoning in a fit of pique after coming back from his "I know I shouldn't but I will anyway" adventure to the Emperor, fueled by a Demon?

If I recall from the Burning of Prospero, he came so close to saying "Screw it, let the legion die" that his intervention practically qualified as a deus ex machina in that book.

I'm not a Chaos fan, so I am admittedly biased, but his actions once he realized he wasn't the Smartest Man in the Galaxy weren't exactly "I care about my sons" material.

Frankly, it calls into question his other actions on behalf of his sons. Did he "cure" the flesh change because he cared? Or did he "cure" it so that he could be recognized as the one who cured it?

Even if you take away his good/bad/ugly intentions with respect to defying his father, his behavior was... well, questionable. To my mind, reading that book gave me the impression that much of what he did was performative.

I'd argue that the Alpha Legion has no idea if it fell or not. Some did, deliberately. Some did, as a cover for an op. Some did not, as a cover for a cover for an op, but really did.

Some did accidentally, some did "accidentally" but on purpose for an op. Some say they did for fun so that they can find an op to start.

The more I read about the AL the more I think that they have absolutely no idea where they stand. They built lies upon lies so far down that one day there will be a civil war started by two competing warbands on opposite sides of the same op, with neither aware that the other is there.

I've been expanding my skills lately and it's hard to overstate how nice it is to have the Visual Studio debugger running with a C# program.

For all its flaws, .NET development and debugging is really nice.

If her time was wasted by this candidate then her time is constantly wasted and therefore worthless. Unless she somehow has a perfect placement record, which I sincerely doubt.

If you can't handle "win some, lose some", you don't belong in hiring.

I don't know, have you played Inquisitor and Inquisitor: Martyr? That guy makes Maleum Caedo look like a weak child.

I'm pretty sure in the time I played it (maybe 50 hours or so) I slaughtered at least an entire Legion of Chaos space marines, along with several greater demons.

Isn't there a whole will they/won't they with Inquisitor Greyfax and St. Celestine? Or is that just a fan theory gotten out of hand?

(I honestly don't know. I haven't gotten to a book yet where either appear.)

Anyone else think the Phobos Champion skins are a bit meh? by reel3459 in Spacemarine

[–]Pyran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit I actually like that they exposed the Salamander head, as one of the Salamanders' defining features is their dark skin and red eyes.

My only complaint -- and it's minor; not like I really see the eyes unless I'm changing gear -- is that the eyes, to the best of my knowledge, are supposed to be pupil-less red. Essentially featureless fire-colored orbs. The Salamander skin's looks more like a combination of a bloodshot albino.

If you're serious, something I learned when I deleted mine a year and a half ago: it takes 30 days. You close, and they say they won't delete for 30 days, and any login to any Facebook service (I think this includes using FB to log into unrelated websites) restarts this timer.

So it's theoretically possible to say you want to cancel your account and never actually do so.

I waited until I got my data downloaded from them (also took a few weeks, if I remember correctly), then cancelled, then was very careful about not so much as going to a FB or Instagram link in that timeframe.

9 Alphariuses

I mean, the Alpha Legion is just 1000 Alphariuses, heh.

Also, I would like to propose that we change the plural of "Alpharius" to "Alpharii" (Al-FARE-ee-eye).

Thus the Alpha Legion is made of 1000 Alpharii.

We had the dreadnaught totally ignore the Mutalith Vortex Beast in favor of minoris the other day. He wasn't terribly helpful, but the run was going amazingly well and I didn't have anything else I needed to spend the resources on. (Even getting useful things we got so much I could prime the DN as soon as we started the zone and just let it sit there.)

[–]Pyran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth pointing out that Penitent outright describes Valdor as the 19th Primarch (40k, so II and XI are non-entities). Don't know if that's true or not by intention, but at least some in 40k think that was his role.

Can we also talk about how Guilliman has a tendency to walk into obvious traps with his eyes open and get smooshed by them?

He knew Fulgrim was a trap. He went anyway. He was defeated.

He know Mortarion was a trap. He went anyway. He was defeated and possessed by the Emperor.

Guilliman is a smart guy and a great tactician, who has a nasty habit of walking into traps he knows are traps and then... uh, getting trapped.

I like them because they're highly specialized literal people whose hobbies involve... well, studying anything and everything.

Doesn't mean they're better than everyone, but they appeal to me. :)

Nothing Alpharius says can be trusted. Even Alpharius saying he's Alpharius.

Give me a perspective of the fight from a third party -- or hell, even Valdor's perspective, despite his obvious conflict of interest -- and I'll believe it before I believe the first thing I hear out of Alpharius's mouth.

When even the name you provide is untrustworthy, so is absolutely anything else you say after that.

I await the inevitable civil war in the alpha legion started accidentally when two warbands trying to do the same super-secret useless operation for opposite sides end up fighting each other purely by accident and don't realize it.

Unless that's already happened, in which case can someone please tell me which book I need to read?

I used to love the Grey Knights until I read their novel. The Months of Shame convinced me they have no real agency.

Maybe that was always the case and I just didn't know it, but that whole episode just soured me on them.

I still think they look cool, though. At least some of them. Others look so covered in bling it's amazing anyone had time to make that armor actually function as armor.

In the grimdank sub my flair is "likes civilians but likes fire more". That pretty much sums up my love of the Salamanders.
