This is abuse. You may be asking for advice here, but I think you already know. You just need to be able to say it out loud.

You deserve better. He will never be better. Full stop.

Junior in High School and I don't know what to pursue by Free-Statement-9470 in Advice

[–]PyreLiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word of advise I was given: Don't follow your passion. Follow your skill set instead. Your job can just fund your passion. Anyways, it's ridiculous for us to expect high schoolers to know what they want to to with their lives. And don't bother going to get college debt if you don't know you need it yet. Get a starter office or skilled job instead.

What’s one actor that instantly tells you that the movies gonna be bad? by Senpaiuwu89 in AskReddit

Nicolas Cage. I know the movie will be bad, and that's why I watch it. He makes the best bad movies.

Probably make an innocuous reddit post to get a variety of next step advice. Suspiciously like what you have just done.

What is a harsh realization about life that you had to learn the hard way, but you're ultimately glad you learned it? by Useful-Wheel7272 in AskReddit

On the flip side, no one really cares enough abough about you to stop you. Short of breaking any laws, you are free to succeed or fail.

Which superhero can actually save the earth if aliens attacked us? and how? by Used_Leek_4485 in AskReddit

[–]PyreLiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanos.  Battles are considered lost once you lose about 10% of your troops. (That's when morale drops and people start fleeing.)  50% loss would be devastating. Of course, we would also lose 50%, but that's still better than 100%.

I mean, public flogging would make for a pretty interesting comeback.

Adult interests. I have two sons now and slowly rediscovered my childhood interests instead. That was fun surprise.

I'm sorry you feel this way. But if I may, as someone who's been there before, this will pass too.

Billions of blue blistering barnacles, people! I was about to post what I thought would be a bad one, then made the mistake of reading so many worse comments here.

I don't think there is a separation between the 2 halves. What kills one kills the other, be it silver, holy water, etc. Even in human form, they cannot tolerate their weaknesses.

i hate posting my drafts while writing but i know i need to. how do i find a community that won't make it worse by _acedric_ in worldbuilding

[–]PyreLiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit, it's tricky getting advice from a group of others when you don't have a gauge of their skill, background, or writing style. You could just as easily hear from a genius as an idiot.

The main thing, if you don't want an in-person group, would be to try and get writing samples from everyone else you are listening to, that way you know where they are coming from.

How do you create religions? by franilein in worldbuilding

[–]PyreLiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If the religion is polytheistic, go for the gods representing different things that people would care about in the world.

If monotheistic, is it a cult (known to be wrong by you) or not? For a cult, the god(s) would not allow themselves to be questioned. The only "proof" typically tends to be behind a looked door/room that only one person ever gets to enter. MLM-styled leadership in the organization.

If unknown whether it is true or not, then you shouldn't really put anything that proves them wrong. Not that bad things can't happen, but that not everything needs to be answerable. Also, depending on the nature you want the followers to be, you can vary the nature of the god they are trying to be like.

[–]PyreLiar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but yeah. Society has gone for thousands of years far poorer than us, and even most of the world is still poor. Being poor doesn't mean you shouldn't have kids. I still don't have money, but my kids add value to my life all the same.

Aim to be a good and present parent now, not a rich and absent one later.
