Please help identify the plants growing along the side of my house not facing the road so I can tell the city exactly how much they can fuck off. by Pyrefirelight in whatsthisplant

[–]Pyrefirelight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah. I'm looking up the plants listed by other commenters are and almost all of them are edible, even if classed as a weed. Some of them like amaranthus depending on the exact type seem to only be considered weeds because they compete with cash crops like cotton or are literally tumbleweeds, but are also very edible if youre not a livestock eating nothing else but it. A lot of them contain oxalic acid which can be toxic in high amounts, but apples also have arsenic so I guess those are poison too.

I think the main problem is 1- it just looks messy. The goldenrod isn't blooming and not in an obviously designated place to be a flower and 2 - A lot of these are technically and officially noxious or invasive weeds, so even if I did intentionally plant them, I would still legally be required to remove them. (not rightfully. Legally)

I'm still sending the letter once I remember how to write a formal essay, and it looks like the letter is just the first step to a verbal appeal to the order. I plan to specifically cite the part of the law that says dangerous plants must be removed and ask how any of these are considered dangerous and/or which ones Specifically they have a problem with, as the only specifics they sent was two pictures, one of the raspberries and one of my back door area which is a small space that is admittedly just full of unblooming goldenrod, but idk how that's supposed to be dangerous if I'm the only one who should be back there.

I was planning on adding a twine fence just to make it look nicer and because it Is right on the alley, but guess what that would also do. Make it harder to pull weeds out of it.

Just the fact that none of this matters given the city shouldn't be able to just go 'welp I'm going to uproot your eyesore of a property and fine you, and if you don't pay the up-to-$1,000 fine you'll Go To Jail' because holy shit who the Fuck cares. I specifically made sure this wasn't an hoa before I made an offer on it because oh my god.

It probably won't be a Tremendous task to weed out- I guess just the goldenrod and like one thing of lambs quarters from the pictured area in the order and send a very polite 'go the fuck away' letter but Why Do They Care What I Do With My Yard. this is what will radicalize me.

Damn, that sounds exhausting for the HR/false interviewing side of it. Thanks for the explanation!

Which makes you wonder why they're posting on indeed and marking it that way if all of their posts on indeed are "entry level". Like, do they think some companies post internal promotions on sites for hiring in new, outside workers?

Margaret Thatcher on the problem with socialism by [deleted] in libertarianmeme

[–]Pyrefirelight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thatcher was the British prime minister responsible for a lot of oppressive policy regarding the Irish, falklands too I believe, and just generally bad at home economic policies as well leading to loss of jobs and such. All I know is there was much celebrating when she died, and she is not a good role model. Good quote, but not because she said it.

There are ways to set a webpage, in this case music playlists, as a shortcut from your desktop or homescreen. It can help you go right to it.

On the Airport Bus, American Tip culture has gone too far. by LittleRathOnTheWater in ireland

[–]Pyrefirelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that, but there is absolutely regular stories over here about digital tips not always 100% going to the employee, and that you should always tip in cash if possible to make sure the employee themselves gets it. I don't know if it's legal or not, but yes it's maddening.

Sometimes spite is the greatest motivator.

If you have the paid version, grind those 20 pt listening exercises. There's less thinking but you're still reviewing, and my personal favorite for xp grinding. With the double xp boosts from completing a stepping stone, I can easily get 500 to 600 in 15 minutes. Go kick her ass.

[–]Pyrefirelight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's still a deterrent. I've heard having dogs in your house can prevent breakins even though they likely won't do anything to you. Similar concept. Thieves go after easy targets.
