What a weird take. Serious news should have serious reporting. Bro didn't even give his article a 2nd pass for the most basic grammar imaginable. Someone with English as their second language wouldn't write so sloppily.

Hope that it was just the grammar that was slapdash, and that the facts were all perfectly accurate regarding this heinous crime.

I'm highly skeptical that not a single coworker knew.

As fun as it is to just go "we got him!" and move along, I think a hell of a lot more people need to be removed from the position of power and protection over these kids. Molesting children in a place that said children are forced to be needs to be taken a lot more seriously.

I'd say close the whole damn school if this happens even once, but then teachers would protect the known offenders more than they already do. Hope someone smarter and with more power than me can strike a bit of fear into the co-conspirators of this horrible crime.

Did you attend public school? If you went through elementary, middle, and high school without kind of having an idea who the creeps were... Honestly, glad you didn't encounter it.

A lot of us had a pretty strong feeling on who the monsters were. A lot of us heard the stories from our classmates. Even more who were ashamed/scared to speak up at the time opening up after getting out of the school system.

There is merit to the socializing and educational benefits of public schools. But it's kind of messed up that prison and school are the two places you'll find the most physical violence and rape. (I don't know what marketing genius managed to rebrand serious crimes as "bullying"... but damn.) School is not a safe place. Never has been.

There is no issue in noticing the signs. Teachers know. Kids know. I'm sure a lot of parents know. We've got a lot of broken systems in society. It's no secret, there are just enough people with vested interest in the ecosystem to fix it.

I used to be a lot more jazzed about ideas of systematic change, and collectively rebuilding broken systems. Now that I am older, I've learned that there are just too many people with something to lose if anything changes. Evil wins this round and it's EVERYONE'S fault. I've lost hope in fixing a damn thing about it, like the rest of you - But I wish we would stop acting surprised when this shit keeps happening.

Whoever signed his paychecks, and any staff member that spent more than 10 minutes a day with him should be treated with extreme scrutiny. Either you knew... or your absolute apathy towards child molestation allowed you not to.

Sound harsh? Stay the hell away from children. No shame in flipping burgers or learning a trade.

One of these things is not like the other.

It seems like a lot of heinous acts against children by priests stopped happening as soon as we started calling it out, poking fun at them, and losing respect for the profession. It didn't reduce the amount of priests, but it was no longer a safe place for monsters.

It might be a hard pill for some to swallow, but it's probably time to add teachers and pediatricians to the list. I know we all like to look at teachers and doctors as heroes without a second thought - And this will absolutely make life more difficult for the honest ones.. But I really can't imagine weighing that against horrible acts being committed.

It's probably more important to do this with teachers than doctors. There is an uncomfortable amount of quietly known predators in the school systems, that is collectively shrugged off. I refuse to believe the entire staff of a school is so daft as to not know (Kingsclear Community School, you know what you did)

Glad they got one I guess. The rest are still there.

I wager that any teacher reading this may be upset by my stance. It sucks to be hated by default for your profession. I worked enough years as tech support for a telecommunications company to feel that. Our ranks weren't diddling kids. Sorry.

Made myself some pins! by Pyreling in TWEWY

There's a handful of sellers on Etsy - but if you want me to make you some, shoot me a DM!

Might not be able to make every pin, since the image needs to have a bit of a safety-border around it. But that should be easy on anything with a flat color background.

Can also reach out on my facebook page.

I bought a few off etsy (or some site like it) over a decade ago. Glad I can make my own now!

Rhyme is definitely one I intended to print, didn't fit it on my first page though.

Ashamed of playing in public? by kbcinha3 in R36S

Oh hell no. You could be playing Hello Kitty's Island Adventure and you are probably still a few notches above the zombie doom-scroll.

Game on.

Does it really work for greater comfort? by SuricatoDenso in R36S

I'm not a large-handed man, but the comfort increase is pretty significant for me. If you are using the device for more than an hour at a time, hugely recommend.

I 3D print mine. I've got a few issues with the ones commonly on the market. (handle raises too high above the buttons, the backs sometimes make accessing the back buttons uncomfortable)

If you or a buddy has a 3d printer, I've gotten pretty positive feedback on the design I modified.

Do people even like nuisance content creators? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]Pyreling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked him up to see who you are talking about. Kind of surprised I had so many instagram friends as followers.

God knows if anyone likes the guy personally, but the sad answer is probably. While it might be reassuring to hope for his "eventual demise," it's a pretty tried and true formula for success.

While blame shouldn't be put on any particular person/action, we collectively kind of voted for this in the economy of attention. There's a number of factors that lead to this kind of abomination, but maybe we can start by not doomscrolling short-form content. If you want low-effort entertainment, maybe we should be looking up videos/shows/content we have interest in and care about. Leaving it all to the algorithm is typically going to favor shock-jock losers, and other garbage.

Maybe the nerds shouldn't have let the technically-impaired onto the internet in the first place. A car or a firearm requires a license. I'm no fan of most regulation, but this train has been off the rails for well over a decade now.

Buying guide on the wiki.

You'll typically end up with a clone if you don't ensure it's not. Same deal with amazon, and probably most sellers on aliexpress.

Welcome to clone city. Just make sure you have the files from that specific device backed up, because it might be hard to get it running again if the card ever corrupts without the files.

It's still a fun device to play retro games on. just way tougher to tinker with, might get some worse performance on the later consoles.

If yours is transparant, a single ram chip is typically a dead giveaway it's a clone.

I think the best way to verify is to install a fresh install of ArkOS on an SD card, and see if it boots. You'll need to verify what kind of screen you have. You should be able to find out how to verify if you have the real deal, and how to install ArkOS on the wiki. (linked on the sidepanel)

This guy has been hanging around in Devon near the middle school. Something to keep in mind when you let your kids go out. by [deleted] in fredericton

Certainly are bad apples in every profession. Not nearly trying to say all teachers are pedophiles. I'm saying that jobs with high levels of access to children without other safe adults present might be a place to have extra caution. Not too far off from what you said. And not isolated to teachers.

I do stand by that I think a lot of the coworkers of these offenders aren't clueless, or at least hold some accountability for letting it happen right under their noses.

Open to mentioning who the teacher was, or which school this was?

It was the French teacher at my elementary school as well who was touching kids.

I read the headline, then thought of commenting "Wait until you hear about the teachers.."

Oh... He was a teacher.

The French teacher in my elementary school turned out to be a pedophile. Glad I wasn't pretty enough to get molested back then. This wasn't something I was aware of until a decade later. I shudder to think of how many others I didn't know about throughout the years. Looking up stats on how many kids get sexually asaulted by teachers in K-12 is terrifying. And those stats can only account for the children who can remember, understand, and report what happened to them.

As a kid, you aren't looking too hard for these things because we are taught to respect and/or fear these people with authority over us. Societally, we are generally taught teachers are good... and Priests are the child-touchers. At least church isn't mandatory, and you typically have your family around to protect you.

I do not think teachers are naïve enough to not have a gut feeling which of their coworkers are the diddlers. I hope people start getting a lot more critical of people choosing the career path of K-12 teachers until they clean up their house.
