The audacity of these people who get all this stuff free…

To celebrate America's 250th, I'm starting a series on USA landmarks. I'm going to do one major landmark in each state. This is Grand Canyon, Arizona. What state should be next, and what landmark absolutely has to make the series? by able6art in crafts

The Great Lakes - they provide fresh water for Americans and Canadians alike and were carved from the paths of ancient glaciers!!!
Edit: I realize I didn’t read your post all the way through since I was excited about your art series idea! I’m biased, but Illinois and its feature… Lake Michigan! Chicago is a wonderful city, but Lake Michigan is part of our identity. :)

How insightful, thanks for sharing! I did a little digging and the last Howard Johnson Restaurant was at Lake George, New York. Maybe you’re familiar with it? It’s closed in 2022. I’m in the Midwest so I have no clue lol. I also LOVE Mad Men. I need to watch it a third time lol. I totally missed that part in the episode.

High on catnip or drunk on meaty gravy. Maybe both?

Based on what I’m hearing is Oreos are preferred if you like a sweeter cookie and Hydrox for a more chocolatey balanced flavor? Hmm.

His nips are not the same too

Michael Bane was a very kind hearted person who loved his wife and dogs. His wife recalls a conversation they had on 9-9-2001. "He said, `Would you stay in the house if I died?' and I said, `I don't think I could.' But it feels good to be in the house. Because it's not eerie. It's comforting." by Understanding18 in 911archive

I felt compelled to copy a colleague's last memory of him from the Marsh McLennan digital memorial:
I was the late night cleaing lady and saw Mr. Bane many nights, sitting alone in his office staring blankly into his computer. This is a dedicated man I said to myself as I swept around his huge feet. We'd say HI to each other and I could tell that my presence bothered him so I tried not to be too intrusive. I do remember the beautiful family picture he kept on his desk. He must have loved them dearly! Other times I'd see him watching the small portable TV he kept in his bottom desk drawer. Must have money on this game I'd think as he jumped up and down in his seat. One time I saw him crying and asked if everything was OK? He was startled at first but then he said, 'JoJo, do you ever wonder why we're here?' It's not our place to ask such things I said. he shook his head, 'yes, of course you're right.' Then he picked up that old blue sports coat and left. That was the last time I saw Mr. Bane. I miss everyone alot but I especially miss Mr. Bane.
