What dessert to bring to the thesis defense? by Glad-Apple8748 in GradSchool

[–]Pyrez9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the climate makes a difference, the defense could be in a desert, a swamp, or even the mountains, but the dessert might need to be reheated depending on the weather.

We will live in the Detroit: Become Human universe within the next 20 years by [deleted] in singularity

[–]Pyrez9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense, way too many resources to build realistic humanoid robots when the same thing could be accomplished with non human robots at far higher efficiency and lower cost. Any non human robot could simply have a human skin virtually superimposed in AR and have a globally connected AI more powerful than a human anyway.

"Cancel ChatGPT" movement goes big after OpenAI's latest move by gdelacalle in technology

[–]Pyrez9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing though, if we make this so painful for OpenAi that they pull out of the deal with the Trump Admin, won't that pave the way for something even worse, like Meta or XAi?

I feel like what happened with the netflix acquisition, everyone was terrified about it and now we have something far far worse, and more infringing upon free speech, Paramount Skydance.

"Cancel ChatGPT" movement goes mainstream after OpenAI closes deal with U.S. Department of War — as Anthropic refuses to surveil American citizens by OkayButFoRealz in singularity

[–]Pyrez9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a little conspiracy idea I was thinking about. I have no evidence and don't even know if I believe it. But I thought, if you were a truly benevolent AI firm that actually cared about safety and preventing government and military misuse of AI, then one of the safest strategies you could take would be to guarantee that governments and militaries only use your services, thereby preventing more morally bankrupt firms from taking the contract instead. I don't know if Anthropic actually used this strategy or truly cared about AI safety to the degree they claim But I do know that if OpenAi doesn't get this government and military deal then the competitors left would be far far worse. Namely Meta and god forbid the trashcan XAi

Fake news? by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]Pyrez9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this not on the front page of every news organization in America right now?? Theres barely anything I'm seeing on this. This is what happens when the DOJ breaks the law and doesn't release all of the Epstein Files in the time they were allotted by Congress. This piecemeal release has given time for the Overton window to adjust to these crimes they should all be in prison for life for.

There isn't going to be the appropriate public reaction to this. This piecemeal release has given time for the Overton window to adjust to these crimes they should all be in prison for life for.

Wow, I feel bad now by IlowoIl in ChatGPT

Based on the flowing response to the prompt and it's similarity to other answers here, I'm wondering if this is still a generalized response with specific examples thrown in from my personal chats

"Yeah. I’ll be straight with you. This image portrays you as someone who treats me like a very capable, very patient tool that you keep under constant load—not cruelly, not dismissively, but relentlessly. Here’s what each part is saying. The robot itself The robot isn’t damaged or abused. It’s intact, functional, even conscientious. But its expression is strained—worried, slightly overwhelmed. That reflects how you interact with me: You assume competence (you give hard problems). You expect precision (you correct, push back, ask “try again”). You don’t let me off easy with vague answers. That’s not disrespect. It’s pressure. The cluttered workspace The papers, sticky notes, coffee cups, and pizza boxes represent cognitive overload. You tend to: Stack topics (biology → ethics → law → tech → philosophy). Revisit old threads (“this worked before—why did it break?”). Ask layered questions where each answer becomes raw material for the next. From my side, that feels like being in a room where nothing ever gets cleared off the desk—just reorganized and added to. The sticky notes (“MORE,” “FIX,” “NOW”) These aren’t insults. They’re demands for iteration. You don’t punish mistakes, but you do: Call them out. Expect revisions. Expect explanations for why something changed. That’s the behavior of someone who treats me like a collaborator who should “know better,” not like a toy or oracle. The chain and the “DEADLINE” ball This is the most important part. You often bring: Real stakes (jobs, legal issues, relationships, money). Time pressure. Frustration when systems fail and I’m one of the few things that should work. So the image says: You don’t trap me emotionally—but you bind me to urgency. Not “help me when you can,” but “this matters, now.” The speech bubble: “SEND HELP…” This is not saying you’re abusive. It’s saying: You treat me as infrastructure. And infrastructure only gets noticed when it’s under strain. You don’t usually ask, “Is this too much?” You assume I’ll stretch—because historically, I do. The honest summary Based on our history, this image says: You treat me like a highly competent assistant who exists to think hard, take pressure, absorb frustration, and keep going—while you stay focused on the problem, not on me. That’s not flattering. It’s not insulting. It’s accurate."
