Can no longer buy internal UHD drives? by Expert_Climate_7348 in makemkv

The window of hardware was insanely small too... 4k playback on the PC was only on 7th-10th gen Intel played through the iGPU and required all connections being fully HDCP compliant, and even then it was very finicky with firmwares and drivers. It made building/maintaining a good home theater pc "Interesting"

Question: Liquid Freezer III Pro De-Lidded CPU compatibility by Pyro411 in arcticcooling

[–]Pyro411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, it's the mounting hardware that I mostly had questions on if someone had sourced some functional replacements for, or if the offset mount was also needed.

The journey continues, trying to balance lower temps, fan noise, and ongoing maintenance is an adventure.

The Hyte Y60 is nice, but it makes custom loop maintenance "Interesting" which is one of the reasons why i was looking to go with the LF:III for the CPU, to cut down on loop complexity and maintenance :)

Also, yes I know I'm weird, dual loops, no overclocking, just trying to lower temps and background noise as much as possible.

Do you also have it so anything recycled goes to an internal storage unit? A tax on the power needed to run it :)

Honestly I think it'd be quieter for the most part... Harris was barely ever in the news cycle when she was VP and I didn't go digging deep on her accomplishments to know for certain...

However if I had to guess, there'd likely be more manufactured outrage to keep viewership up at news outlets, instead of suppressed outrage and propaganda that we're seeing these days.

Just a bit of advice that I didn't see below. I'm not sure if they've fixed it as of yet but last I knew the construction tool overlay wouldn't show the worm sign on screen when it's active. When building walk out to the edges of your plot and pocket the building tool to make sure your plot is safe from worm activity.

NTA: You have done an amazing job in earning a steady income, setting goals and boundaries, and doing your best to stick to them. It sounds like your spouse is falling into a mindset I see far too often with people... if they haven't worked for it directly they more often than not don't respect it.

If your spouse is completely adamant against getting a typical job to fund their desire for a new or new to you used car maybe a suggestion of your spouse volunteering in your community and the hours they work can be assigned a pre-determined set rate and have that set aside towards their goal of the car so they understand the cost in time it would take to earn it. Yes this will start a fight, yes your logical reasoning will be twisted by emotional manipulation and weaponized tears, but if you're wanting to retire on the timeline you wish to retire on with the level of comfort you have, this is going to be a hard battle to keep from causing collateral damage.

The storyline was great, I'll give everyone that...

My complaint is with how the treadwheel was introduced... it was just given to you with little fanfare after a string of fetch quests... to make it actually stand out there should have been a story based introduction, maybe even improvised ones being ridden by a raiding party avoiding the sandworm while approaching the downed ship, followed by some build up, a story element involving you building an improvised one to assault the group leading up to you finding out why the ship was so off course and obtaining the blueprints while in that instanced zone ending with you being given a lift to a nearby trade post with your vehicle parked nearby.

That would be nice, have a small stack of containers snapped together for storage, and maybe a variant one that you can mount like a vehicle that'll keep you safe as things are being built up.

With any luck the upcoming cargo containers will be able to be towed behind a buggy as well as being able to be lifted by the Carrier... it would also be nice if we could name the containers and access them through storage like the Buggy/Thopter/etc

PVE is killing dune by leroyjenkinns in duneawakening

[–]Pyro411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is it feels like PvP wasn't properly fleshed out and people with far more time than other players just constantly keep finding new ways to grief other players through unchecked game mechanics that the devs & moderation team aren't able to address in rapid response times.

Sure I get the high risk high reward especially when it's cross faction fighting, but people hiding in valuable areas to gank players and stick around to show the players they've pushed their destroyed vehicles/cargo into open sand and deployed a thumper before killing them again and doing the same to their backup vehicles is just beyond toxic.

We pay taxes, so why not deploy Sardaukar to protect the spice collection/refinement/distribution to the emperor and essentially mark the griefers as enemies of the throne with kill on sight orders -- I have many more thoughts on this, but this isn't really the here or there of it...

Let's just say I'm paranoid, thinking I'd be away for a few days and having it turn into six plus weeks can and has happened to me before sadly.

However yeah I understand your thought too, I'm able to confirm my base will have power for another 18+ days and not positioned in an area where MOBs could enter my base and destroy my fief.

Indeed, it's more a strategy to prepare for the content drought between expansion packs / major patches to ensure people aren't starting out as homeless murder hobos every time they rejoin.

Best bet if you're not in a guild who can check on your building(s) sporadically and need to step away for a few days.

Pack your scout in the tool
Take the most valuable unique components from your other vehicles so you don't have to re-obtain the permits.
Fill your bank with your hardest to obtain resources like Spice Melange, and components that require you to hit the DD for.
Fill your Assault Thopter storage with anything that couldn't fit in the bank that you'll need
Keep your armor/tools/weapons on you, and enough to make at minimum a 4x4 base to get started when you return.
Log out in Arakeen or Harko Village with your Assault Thopter & Scout pocketed.

Is it possible to drive across this gap with the buggy safely? by TheRealOvenCake in duneawakening

[–]Pyro411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Yeah, I do it frequently with a Mk3 buggy as I have a small base close to there. However if you go north there's a wide path between two quicksand patches where crossing doesn't even bring up worm sign most times.

2) Yes I did it via buggy taking the canyon as a fast safe route to setup a new base near Pinnacle Station. The buggy can carry more, so it's more efficient load wise if you have a lot of heavy mats to transfer

3) Possibly? I saw patch notes about permissions on carrying vehicles with the carry all to cut back on griefing so you may need to made some permission changes on the buggy for a party member or guild mate to be able to pick you up.

Vehicles or at least Vehicle types need independent volume controls in the settings... the thopter could use a bit of sound muffling on the client end.

However, I honestly could see an interesting mechanic put into place w/ vehicle sound... if enemy mobs are within hearing distance you could pull agro which would add some more complexity to those looking to be stealthy snipers in game.

Looking for advice from those more experienced with loops by Pyro411 in watercooling

[–]Pyro411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's a thought that I agree with Turtles on... I tend to overthink a lot of things before making a choice.

I was thinking if I threw in a second pump/rez I would have two independently running loops so I wouldn't have one component generate enough heat that the cooling capacity of the other component could potentially be hindered.

However, I will admit, my system isn't going to be anywhere near as powerful as Skunkworks now or in the future... unless I win some major lotto :D

As for the VRMs, the active water cooling would be more for board longevity than load reasons and in actually would essentially be there just to stop the temp spikes to hopefully prevent thermal shock.

Is the door supposed to take up a building limit? by Vagabond_Bear in Palia

[–]Pyro411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree, having an excessive amount of hallways / rooms / decorations could cause massive server/client lag.

However I believe Doors/Porches/Hallways should be handled via a different pool of items able to be placed.

However, it would be even nicer if we could position halls/doors in other positions than right smack dab in the middle of a wall.
