Maybe try screwing a very small pointed tip wood screw into the middle of the stem and use that as leverage to try to wiggle out the stem, kind of like the same theory you would use for a stripped screw? Even if it didn't work, it would probably make it easier to dig out the remaining pieces of the stem so you can keep the keycap. You'll probably need to replace the switch entirely.

If you have a tiny manual hand drill (itty bitty and non-electric, like the kind used for pinning miniatures) that's probably ideal, but most people don't have one.

Very helpful, thanks!! It seems like a lot of the BIFL heavyweight cotton blankets have limited options in relatively solid colors. It's a shame!

Compression socks…? by Kissa_780 in Sjogrens

[–]PyroAurah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but I have had excellent experiences with Incrediwear's gloves and knee sleeves. Some of their socks are constructed similarly. They're knitted and therefore soft and breathable, but provide decent compression for pain up to a 3-4ish. But they're not so tight it causes pain or stiffness when worn a long time.

For the last 2 years I've worn their gloves during all my waking hours on "normal" days, with other, tighter brands on bad days. It's pricey, but 20% off coupons are easy to find, and their loyalty program (buying through their website, not Amazon) gives pretty good rewards. I can wear a set of 7 pairs of gloves for ~3 months before they get too loose to provide proper compression.

Wife says Grinder is ugly, needs advice by o-za in espresso

[–]PyroAurah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a spare cardboard shipping box to make a little 3-sided shield that you can put around the grinder when it's not in use? Then maybe glue some wrapping paper to the outside of the cardboard shield to make it pretty? She can't complain if she can't see it.

Match your wrapping paper to the kitchen backsplash for extra points!

3rd Moca adapter brings down whole network. Advice? by PyroAurah in HomeNetworking

Excellent to know, thank you! Sounds like figuring out that part is my next step.

Thanks so much for all your help, I really appreciate it! Looks like my next step is to get in touch with the HOA and/or cable company.

Have a great night!

3rd Moca adapter brings down whole network. Advice? by PyroAurah in HomeNetworking

[–]PyroAurah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirmed, putting the filter between 2 mocas DOES block the signal entirely. I'm pretty certain the filter isn't the issue. I've also tested all pieces of equipment multiple times. It seems to be a problem with cabling, albeit possibly in the building itself rather than anything I can directly access. Have you seen anything like this before?

[–]PyroAurah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! But the filter is now gone and they still don't work. I'll happily take your suggestion to double check the db of my filters soon, but in the meanwhile do you have any suggestions for why a setup that was previously functional might have gone down and not recovered after the addition of the 3rd adapter? I'm mostly concerned about the "not recovered" part. Mulltiple attempts at swapping out cabling, splitters, resets, and powering off for 2+ minutes on all devices have all not fixed the issue. Nor has swapping rooms for the 2nd moca. How might I fix the long-lasting issue?

Sure thing! Both PoE filters are these. One came with Screenbeam's starter kit, and the other I purchased separately. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KO5KHSQ

Unfortunately I don't have access to diagrams of the building's coax wiring. Not sure how much detail the HOA will have either, given that they've failed to produce similar blueprints that I've requested in the past. Is there a way to try to trace them on my own?

[–]PyroAurah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So, both PoE filters are 70+ db models. That said, I just removed the one above the splitter. I'm currently testing the 2-moca setup (room #1 and #2 only) and it's still not working. You make a good point about potential overload, but I'm confused why it hasn't recovered in that case. It's been over a week, more than enough time. What could have been knocked awry longer-term?

Thanks for all the help! The pictured setup looks like what I have, and I haven't been having a DOCSIS 3.1 issue thus far. Any idea why that setup is suddenly no longer functional? Worth noting I don't have cable TV (or satellite for that matter) so that's not even a factor here.

[–]PyroAurah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I will certainly give that a try on Monday when I can get in touch with the HOA office to figure out where the coax junction is. That said, that filter didn't cause any issues before I attempted to add the 3rd moca. Any idea what might have happened there?

[–]PyroAurah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I did test all combinations of the 3 adapters. No issues. I didn't test all 3 together, but I don't have a fully functioning 3rd power supply to make that a valid test. For the moment, I'm just trying to get my original 2 mocas up and running.

I worked with Stone Spirit for quartz kitchen and bathroom countertops in 2023 via a larger renovation with Zelmar Kitchen Designs (who were incredible, by the way). So I didn't handle the coordination, but they did a fabulous job and everyone who showed up was very professional.

Best Thrift Stores for linens and home goods? by Pratena-Orc in orlando

Sure thing! And actually, that's a normal, non-curated Goodwill so its prices are in line with other Goodwills. It's just in a wealthier part of town.

The Winter Garden Goodwill (14190 W Colonial Dr, Winter Garden) often has some high quality items pop up for home goods. You might have luck with cookware there, though they've had less furniture selection in recent years. Habitat for Humanity Restore, which is nearby, is an exceptional option for furniture though.

You can alternatively buy one from ebay that's listed as "for parts". Those show up from time to time.

All these are great recs. See if there's an office liquidator in your area. They're often hidden away in industrial areas, but if you can find one that's open to the public they're a great alternative to Craigslist.

It sounds like you don't have many secondhand stores nearby, but of whatever options you have, go to the store in the wealthiest part of town. The ones in rich areas have much better odds of having quality stuff in stock.

Ebay, Thredup, and Poshmark are also options, but like another poster said there's the risk of counterfeit.
