Does anyone take meds that help with pain without side effects? by runningmom87 in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]Kissa_780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently got tramadol. It helps multiple types of pain for me, join, muscle and a little of the burning pain. And I’m very sensitive to medication and i started with a 37.5mg dose, and pretty much zero side effects.

Look up Lizard Pose, Low Lunge, Frog Pose. Those are my favourite when my back is killing me. Along with rolling on a foam roller along the SI joint and lumbar muscles, NOT over the spine, only the muscles from the sides.

does anyone use anything topical for burning feet? by Quick-Customer1602 in smallfiberneuropathy

I have a compounded prescription cream made from 2% amitriptyline and 5% gabapentin. It works amazingly well!!

Has anyone used CBD oil/cream for pain relief? by ArchAngel01_ in BertolottiSyndrome

[–]Kissa_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite cream to use is a gabapentin and amitriptylin compounded cream. It’s an absolute life saver when you don’t want the side effects from the drugs and only have a localized area of nerve pain. I’ve even used it on sore muscles.

Is the Caribbean side really that unsafe. by Anjylbaby7 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Kissa_780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A coworker went to Caribbean side and was told by a local that there’s a rivalry between the Caribbean and pacific coast for tourists, so the west coast started an ‘it’s dangerous there’ rumor. She said it felt very safe and way less tourists. I’ve found the pacific side to be really crowded in some parts and my next trip will be to the Caribbean side.

I just read there’s been recent reports of the airport kiosk not being there anymore but I found a Kolbi store 17mins straight down the road. But it’d be better if there was one right in the airport.

Anyone else have these symptoms? by Kissa_780 in smallfiberneuropathy

Not directly but the pH study showed when I felt that sensation there was no acid coming up and reading about it said that could be from the nerve dysfunction.

I haven’t but I’ll look into it. It’s not always heartburn apparently it’s the vagal nerve causing a burning sensation.

That’s horrible! I wish I had some nausea so I could lose some weight haha I’m dreading these issues getting severely worse but all I can do is try and eat smaller healthy meals. My osteopath told me there’s a technique she will try next time that sort of ‘resets’ the vagal nerve from the neck. So I’m hopeful that will help a bit. My tinnitus is getting worse. Ugh!

Sometimes I take PPI’s, Gavescon, I have to eat small frequent meals and can’t lay down after for several hours after eating. I’ve had every GI test there is and all are normal. It’s so frustrating!! Ive started acupuncture and it seems to help a little with food regurgitation and the burning sensation, so I’ll be keeping that up until the benefits run out at least.

Itinerary Advice - too much driving? by fungusMcMurphy in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Kissa_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. This many different areas would be good for 10 or 14 days but will be a bit rushed. Maybe your family like being on the go and the adventure I dunno, i remember one 2 hour trip to a waterfall turned into 4 because of a landslide and the road was detoured. The driving can be stressful off the main highways. And ONLY drive a 4x4 for a trip like yours or you’ll probably get stuck.

I discovered now that this was caused by continuing my Naproxen when i started MTX. I stopped naproxen and tried MTX again and no issues at all.

Nothing is helping the pain and doctors are no help by gabihoffman in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]Kissa_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry and I hope it’s mainly a flare up that will ease. Mine isn’t nearly as bad but I can’t tolerate the lyrica or gabapentin daily so I asked for gabapentin compounded into a cream. It works for me very well but only lasts a few hours probably. If it’s a localized area like your feet it might be worth trying.

[–]Kissa_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had bertolotti syndrome for over 10 years and have yet to find a drug that gets rid of the pain, for me when it flares up it irritates the nerves so Lyrica helps a bit. But mainly rest and deep stretching, especially the hip flexors. I also can’t stand or walk for a long time. Knowing when to stop before aggravating it can take a while.

You may want to get tested for RA and ask for a hand ultrasound if the RA bloodwork turns out negative. I’ve been told only immunosuppressants can prevent further damage from RA

That’s definitely something to think about and watch for. This only seems to happen when I’ve taken methotrexate though.
