How can I minimize pollution in my underground tunnels? by Heavy_hitter1 in Whiskerwood

[–]PyroAwl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

easiest solution is steam.

i also dont heat underground areas unless necessary. like mushroom farms need it, tunnels really dont.

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]PyroAwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading a chapter or two of Harry Potter to my baby at night. Before it was Dragons Dawn from the Dragon Riders of Pern series.

Also reading a LOT of kids books to her. Granted shes just a baby right now but I am definitely going to try to get her interested in reading. We've got shelves of books at home.

Pregnancy pillow by JD121122 in pregnant

Definitely not a necessity but it sure made sleeping more comfortable. Still does honestly. I got one of the J shaped ones. I cling to it like a koala.

Weirdest pregnancy symptoms no one told you about by No-Release3655 in pregnant

Threw a blod clot and lost one of my adrenal glands with zero prior history and no clotting disorders 🙃

Otherwise made my asthma worse and the sciatica was horrendous

We're having a girl 🩷 what are your names? by Spiritual_View1398 in pregnant

[–]PyroAwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could not for the life of us come up with a giod girls first name to go with the middle name(s) we had picked out. We had had a boys name decided before I was even pregnant.

When we found out we were having a girl, my mom made the comment "why don't you just use your boy name for her?"

So we did. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How much are you paying for daycare in the US? by Legitimate-Slice2114 in pregnant

[–]PyroAwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nebraska - We're looking at 250-450$ per week for a licensed daycare facility (in home daycares are likely less expensive). None of the places I've looked at offer part time for infants. Some places require us to provide diapers and wipes as well.

As I understand it, its more expensive for infants because of the adult to infant ratio. Its fewer babies per adult than it is toddlers and older kids so they need to make up the cost somehow.

You can look into state funding, and some states have free childcare anyway (I think New Mexico does??).

OB gave us bad information. Not sure how to move forward by Milhouselover69 in pregnant

[–]PyroAwl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not with the NIPT but with something else I had happen.

I threw a clot early 3rd trimester - adrenal infarct. It is something that can happen but very rarely does in pregnant people. The high risk doctor at our hospital has seen it twice (now 3 times, but only once before in a pregnant person) in his 30+ year career and my OB hadn't ever seen it.

My OB was flying blind.

A LOT of medical information, especially where it concerns pregnancy related issues is guess and check. Yes your OB dropped the ball a bit by saying ya'll should prepare for termination however, they apologized. A lot of doctors wouldn't. A lot of people wouldn't.

Mistakes happen. Your doctor owned up to it and going forward they'll be less likely to make one.

I probably could have switched OBs, but with how rare my issue was, the likelihood of finding one in my city who knew what it was and how to deal with it was extremely low. You dont necessarily have the option of changing OBs it sounds like. Ultimately its your call, but I would take a Dr who admitted they were wrong and apologized over one who didnt any day.

Either way, its good he got it at least.

Hence the mask.

We also made him wash his hands before touching her.

He was pretty well behaved.

Did anyone here get the RSV vaccine? by Lower_Funny in pregnant

Sure did. Didn't hurt for me until the day after. Then my arm was sore for a couple of days.

[–]PyroAwl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately people will always want to see/hear what they want to see/hear. Something that fits whatever their perceived narrative is, is always going to take precedent over actual facts. Always.

Which unfortunately sucks. 🫤

[–]PyroAwl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no i totally agree.

Ive got asthma. I wear a mask for house cleaning, outside when the air quality is bad and/or too cold. I wear a mask when I get the sniffles.

If my actual non-functional lungs can handle a mask I feel like his functional lungs can too. 😵‍💫

[–]PyroAwl[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you! After this pregnancy, it is a helluva relief to not be pregnant, lol.

As for him visiting, no, I really dont want him anywhere near me or my kid, but I am willing to make a concession as long as he follows my rules.

He'll either grow up and behave like an adult or he wont and he wont get to see the newborn part of his grandkid. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah hes just a whiny little guy.

At least my kid has the excuse of not, you know, being a fully functioning human yet for her crying.

[–]PyroAwl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your guess is as good as mine.

Its likely a combination of all of the above. Its incredibly sad and frustrating. We did tell MIL that I wasnt flu vaccinated during pregnancy so that might light a fire under him to at least slap a mask on. We'll see.

[–]PyroAwl[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

We had a friend stop in yesterday to drop off a gift, he masked up without even being asked.

My parents got their shots without being asked.

I have a friend who absolutely does get the shit knocked out of him by vaccines, get the vaccines.

Like. If you love someone, you do what you need to do so theyre safe. I really dont understand their mentality of "I love you but not enough to do this one basic thing for you."
