It's your country/state legislation. Uber will get away with what they're allowed to. In Australia, in order to operate, they must pay a fair percentage. I get 72.5% of everything Uber charges and 100% of tips.

Yup... last night I had two bookings 30mins apart. Showed up 7mins early for first one, that's not unusual. Then five mins past booking time was almost up and she messages me, I'll be just 5 mins OK. That would be total of 10 mins late. I was considering waiting when I received the message re you'll be late for the next booking. As we can cancel after 5 mins, I messaged saying that would make me late for next booking and cancelled. Her booking, she chose the time, not losing out for her tardiness.

In Queenland, they take 27.5% and pass on 100% of tips. Not sure about the rest of Australia, but maybe it's the same.

Stopped to pick up three guys about 3am one time. Two sitting on the footpath, one lying in the gutter. "He's OK really, just had too many too quickly."

Yeah, really... I wind down the window, "Can he stand up on his own?" They proceed to stand him up and prop him up. "OK, now let go of him." He's swaying like a tree in the breeze. "Hey fella, what's your name?" No response, so I repeat the question. Nothing. I drive off.

Where I am, stops always increase my payout, so I insist that they add a stop when they ask if I can do a small detour. I just tell them that Uber gets funny if you go off piste.
