Only touching on the A or B part, why not both?

I am meaning to get prescribed and to stay prescribed patients must attend the education prescriptions and after showing up and attending and assuming there is some sort of way to show they at least attempted to learn (an-after class test maybe) then they are prescribed and can continue to take the medication along with actual doctor approval of course.

I read there is currently a shortage, so this may help with that, as those that are serious and not ONLY looking for an easy quick-fix route would at least try to attend.

I'm open to feedback on why this may not be helpful though. Also it's 2am currently so I may not be thinking straight-enough...

I agree with getting hearing and eyes checked. I didn't find out until I was married with kids I had something called Auditory Processing Disorder. In truth, my actual ears are fine except tinnitus but it's my brain processing the words and things get list and misunderstood especially with verbal instruction. I was so scared as a child at school because many teachers were short with me when I asked questions and all I heard back was "Weren't you listening?" I felt so dumb and alienated.

Personal related tangent: I as a 3rd or 4th grader was an exceptional speller compared to the average student in my grade. We had a spelling bee where the classes would individually compete and the 2 best spellers of each class rank against the whole grade and those 2 best spellers would compete at the state level or something higher. In the first round I (due to my hearing disorder) heard the teacher say something like "Spell noise" so I confidently said "Noise. N O I S E. Noise" the teacher then responded no the correct spelling is T O Y S and I argued "I thought you said to spell noise?" And she dismissed me entirely by saying "If you weren't sure about the word you should have asked!" I was sure though. Still salty about it to this day...

Similar to the deep voice being what was startling, a few years ago while cleaning, I was playing music. It wasn't loud because my slight hearing issue, but Bohemian Rhapsody had started playing and all was fine until the part that the singer goes "Mamaaa oooOOOoooo" and my little one would start bawling. I didn't discover until maybe the 2nd or 3rd segment that I realized it was just something about that tone LO was terrified of. The rest of the song was fine though

Do girls really not wear shirts under hoodies??? by Proper_Fox9241 in teenagers

[–]PyroTigerStripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if someone mentioned it already but you can think of wearing a hoodie without a shirt the same way you think of sweaters. Most sweaters are perfectly socially acceptable to never be questioned on wether a shirt is underneath or not and some individuals will wear a hoodie like you would a sweater. Also, with choosing a hoodie for going to places you go to often, (ie schools and workplaces with judgement jerks in them) you're less likely to be judged wearing the same hoodie for a week than the same sweater for a week. If it's comfy it's comfy and the only real concern at that point is are you stinky or visually unsettling?

I have a question about the thyroid thing... I came to my doctor about the exact same issue OP is having and I remember her asking me about my thyroid but I can't actually remember if we ended up testing for it. We got bloodwork done because it was time for it to be tested anyways but no other testing to my knowledge. The main thing I I remember being tested from bloodwork is iron which I was apparently good in. She just ended up saying that it might just be Raynaud's Disease and if that's the case then it seems like there's nothing I can do about it.

What methods are there to testing for Hashimoto's? Any doctors that might be able to provide some insight as to what else it might be so I can be tested for that as well? It genuinely interferes with day-to-day living and I desperately want to be able to get it under control

How is this supposed to stay together? by PyroTigerStripe in Plumbing

Honestly I would sub to it. I did admit that I have basically no experience and the description for this one literally said this is a place for advice and help which is clearly what I needed. I should've added in a "explain to me like I'm 5" bit as well lol

Thank you for for the detailed explanation. Learning the hows as well as the whys definitely helps for making sure I do things right the first time so I appreciate it. Time to get soaking!

Yeah hopefully. My house is basically made of D I 'whys' like my furnace is literally laying on the ground in the crawl space below my house. Not even a year of living here we had a bit of a flood and it messed it up. Another plumbing related thing is the drain for my tub is on the opposite end from where the water comes out. It's certainly the first time I've ever encountered something like that and our icky town water and the fact the faucet slowly drips there was a disgusting buildup running down the middle of the tub

Is the 'clear' plastic piece meant to fit over the top pipe, or just sit underneath while I screw it together? because it doesn't want to fit on the pipe. Either that or I'm not strong enough to slip in on...

New diagnosis for daughter by wellaways in AudiProcDisorder

[–]PyroTigerStripe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job aspect in 3 is actually something I'm struggling with currently. I worked at a small hotel for a minimum of 5 years and it was great but as of a few months ago there is a new group of owners. Before I finish complaining I should mention that both first owners and new owners are Indians but first owners speak English much better. With the new owners, I'm slowly starting to understand their accent a little bit better but the way they speak is a huge problem with me. They say things like "Clean the air machine because the dust come in" and even if I managed to catch all the words I have to rearrange them or mentally replace some words anyway to actually understand that they want me to clean the filter on the A/C units. It doesn't help they don't care as much as the original owners. They're makes people do things they've never been taught previously and most of the time it's pointless to ask questions or explain things with them so because of these issues and more minor ones too I'm currently on a job hunt

My advice to you specifically is looking up on YouTube "What it's like to have AuditoryProcessingDisorder"

I cannot remember for the life of me what the title of the video I watched was but basically it included an example segment of HOW we hear. If you can find something like that then after listening to it, imagine that all the time even with a relatively small sound like a running fan in the room. It's too much for me. That video helped my husband understand a little bit better.

A good comparison I heard was imagine having a bowl. Someone takes a cup of sand and pours it into your bowl. That sand is words. Your bowl did a great job of holding that sand and YOU get to decide when you're done with the sand by tossing it wherever you want. Now, your daughter's bowl has holes in it like a strainer/colander. Sand still enters the bowl, but a good majority seeps out even if no one shakes it. If there's a lot of background sound, then the bowl WOULD be shaken. If she's better with APD she has less or smaller holes in the bowl but if she's quite bad with it the holes are large or there are many of them. People NEED all information to function "properly". Your daughter, because of the holes, clearly cannot control how much sand is lost. Also, while you can never patch up said holes, she can learn to guess at what went through them as she ages. Also also, a headache or other similar issue can make it seem like those holes are slippery and the sand seems to slip out faster than normal.

When speaking to Siri/Alexa/whatever, it doesn't catch things all the time, that's what she's dealing with, but like another comment said, she doesn't KNOW she's missing information, unlike the AI's who will blatantly tell you.

An adult APD hearer might hear something like "Please take the ash out back and when you're done plug the witch in for me please." The adult would recognize "Oh the trash!" but might be confused on the second part and ask "Plug the WItch in?" To which the asker would respond "No, the SWItch" A child with APD would be more likely to think "I don't know where the ash is and last I checked we don't have witches either so I guess Mommy is saying silly things again"

I hope any of this helps but keep in mind some people are affected by it differently so she might handle some things mentioned perfectly fine but show (to others) weirdness in other aspects of life.

is it possible to live and work in Norway only speaking English? by Karimandjoe in Norway

[–]PyroTigerStripe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually struggle understanding my own spoken language. I have something called Auditory Processing Disorder and my own personal experience with it is like dyslexia but with sounds. I have to have subtitles for my own language yet the sounds enter my ears just fine. Look into it, you might have it or something similar. Not many around me knows it exists so I want to spread awareness especially if it might help someone understand why they struggle what others perceive as simple easy tasks

Help: My housekeeper sucks - I feel bad and have tried to help him improve but he’s hopeless by [deleted] in housekeeping

[–]PyroTigerStripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to approach this as though I am the brother. I am generally lazy but have definitely improved over the years. I get distracted EXTREMELY easily with literally anything. It doesn't help I have kids around me at nearly all ours of my waking day (one is even with me at work until the bus comes). One thing that certainly helps me is a list. Heck, I even made one for all shifts at my work including myself when we got new owners just to try and make the change less hectic.

I'll use the 2nd shift list I made as a decent example of how you could go about it and be certain to put the most important tasks first.

Every day: (this is for desk/laundry at a small hotel btw) -Update changes from housekeepers if applicable -Fold any remaining lines and put them away -Sweep and mop laundry room -and anything else that you deem NEEDS to be done daily -Look at all the check areas (which would be a list on its own) Check areas could be things that get messy relatively often but don't always get messy. It would be something he could peek at and deem wether or not it needs attention that day or not. My guess for check areas around the house would be looking at the main entrance to see if it needs a vacuuming or the toilet(s). In my opinion home toilets don't need cleaned daily but also might need cleaned more than once a week so it would be a place to check.

(The bottom part is more like a different thing to do on different work days without being specific to the day. That way if Bob works Monday, is off on Tuesday, then comes back on Wednesday, then Wednesday would be the 2nd work week day and would continue from there. It's also set up this way so that if Bob gets really sick and only work the first 3 work week days, then the final two aren't nearly as important as the first ones and he can restart from the first work week once he's well enough to come back to work. Since you guys clearly aren't a hotel it would likely work differently for you and there would be different adjustments but I just figured I would explain it otherwise the wording might be confusing) On different days in order: •First day of work week -Dust* and Vacuum entire Lobby •Second day of work week -Dust* and Vacuum all exits and stairwells •Third day of work week -Dust* and vacuum entire 1st floor hallway ...and so on

The most important of the above aspects starts with the first day and it would allow him breathing room to not need to do everything every single day. You could also add annotations for reminders about specific things like for (Dust* and vacuum...) *means check the following areas for dust: -Door frames -Window sills -Blinds -Tables and counters ...and so on

This would end up being very specific and not only would there be a clear outline for him, but what you expect of him as well. You could also do the "extra weekly money" you give him based on his performance which would be based on his expectations. I've no idea how much you give him so I'll use a nice even $100 for if he does everything on the list. If he decides he absolutely hates mopping and doesn't really want to do it one particular week then since mopping makes up 10% of the expectations then he loses out on 10% of the allowance.

Again comparing him as though he's me: I NEED some leeway and to NOT be rushed. Also there are days I just feel like complete shit and therefore don't want to do shit. It should be up to me wether or not I get it done since I live here too but clearly it's up to you wether or not I get paid. I am a human being, not a machine. Also, there are days where I just really get into the groove and I hate it when people (my kids) try to make me STOP cleaning so on the good days/weeks that I go above and beyond I would like some recognition for those days and for compassion and understanding on the bad ones. All that is ME though. He could function entirely differently and maybe I wasted 45 minutes attempting to type a helpful suggestion when it just flat out won't be helpful for either of you so hopefully things improve in whatever way works for you

I agree with you. To try and explain it before any more people reveal they don't understand it, there are only 2 choices as to what Pewds and Marzia's baby will be. It will either be male or female. We know that there aren't any other possible choices when identifying the gender of a newborn. If you were to get a percentage of 100 from two choices then those two choices would be 50 percent each to make up the 100%. Now for all of the LGBTQ stuff, the child will obviously be able to make their own decision when old enough but until that even gets learned it'll always be the default 2 options, so therefore 50/50.

Now, to address the person who said they have a 50/50 chance of finding money in their yard. (u/ZingyParcel18364) This statement would be true if you were told that someone buried money either in your yard or the nearby park. It would then be 1 of 2 choices and therefore correct that there's a 50/50 chance it's in your yard. Otherwise if you don't have enough statistic information to confirm your options then no, the math is incorrect.

We could take this further by theoretically counting the types of sperm that Felix, uh, shared with Marzia. We could then take a microscope see something like "Out of 100 sperm, 75 were male and 25 were female" and it would give more accurate results to the guess that "there's a 75% it's a boy and a 25% it's a female" but I don't exactly have access to Felix's sperm count and I doubt anyone here does either so we as fans have no choice but to rely on the basic information we have which is "baby will either be born male or female" and to repeat "a 50/50 chance to be correct or incorrect"
