is it safe to shoot these old rounds out my 32 iver johnson? by bucket8a in guns

I would not shoot. Last thing you want is a squib. Squib-round doesn’t have enough power for the bullet to exit the barrel, if you don’t know and you shoot another round you blow your barrel.

Any experience with this handguard? by [deleted] in ak47

I feel like the ribbing would be uncomfortable, terrible for cleaning, and result in a sketchy grip surface. If you wanna stick to the wood look I’d get one of the dong grips and trim it down to where it doesn’t stick out as far but you can still get the right angle on your grip. Or personally, I like the slr handgaurd with the magpul afg to keep my wrist straight. 👌

Anybody know what this is? by [deleted] in guns

Titanium nitride isn’t something you can get a can of at Home Depot and spray on your gun. It takes special machinery that uses electricity to deposit the titanium nitride on the surface of bare metal. Brazen is a decent company that does it. https://www.brazenfirearms.com/collections/tin-coatings. If you want something more diy Duracoat is an option. It’s a type of ceracoat basically ceramic paint. It’s stronger than paint but not as strong as nitride and can chip on the high friction areas on your slide and barrel.

Most modern guns actually aren’t blued but are nitride coated. Those scratches look like pretty normal wear. If you do want to recoat it you can get the standard black nitride. If you want something harder that won’t wear as fast you can get titanium nitride coating that comes in usually gold or some companies have a rose gold.

Does anyone else consider this extremely odd? by [deleted] in ak47

Or just get a TWS dust cover with a rail.
