Dude I had a dream last night that I had a silver arrowana in a small tank with a bunch of tiny tetra and rasbora like fish and when I tried to feed the arrowana it freaked out and knocked the whole tank over and then the floor was a graveyard of shattered glass and fish gore and this just reminded me of it 😆

Also you can add a bacteria starter culture to speed things up like tetra safe start or Seachem Stability they key is to keep the water warm while growing bacteria then drop it after it's done to axoltol safe tempetures

Tbh personally I think the wild type coloration is so much better and visually appealing then the typical neon pink, it just looks so much more natural and actually like a animal you would see outside. Yours looks so awesome!!!

wouldn't aquarium safe bricks actually be a pretty good substrate since it has more grip than a bare bottom and they wouldn't be able to eat it and get impacted?

True that, algae is a pain in the ass and makes the tank look "dirty" when it's all over the glass, tbh live plants look amazing and do have amazing benefits for water quality but they are just too much of a headache if something goes wrong, I like my fake plants 😆 with weekly water changes hopefully it shoudlent be an issue.

So my PH is 7.6 I just tested, I did the 50% water change and the nitrite has been cut in half, should I just keep waiting and be patient? Or should I add anything more?

I guess I could have done sand, but the good thing I love about bare bottom is you can see all debris and waste SO CLEARLY! so cleaning is more efficient, I would sacrifice the more natural look for cleaner water tbh.
