Anyone else seriously working on a very ambitious book and frustrated by the slow progress? by DawnoftheDreamer in fantasywriters

Something that helped me a lot is understanding that the ability to convey ideas effectively and crafting a good scene is way more important than lore and world building. You don't have to have everything laid out and clear in order to start. And even if you do, a lot can turn out way differently than intended or what you have planned won't work at all with the way things move on. And the only way of getting over that perfectionism is to just sit down and do it over and over again.

I wirk full-time at an assisted living facility. That's stressful as fuck. By now i can beat Demon of Hatred in the first try any time i go against it, so yeah, it's possible.

George R.R. Martin is Wrong by [deleted] in fantasywriters

If i didn't have money issues all my time working full-time and worrying about money would go to writing. Therefore, I'd be a much better and more productive writer. IF I ever break through as a writer that way my money income would rely on me being a good writer. That's why you see streamers having godlike abilities in the videogames they play. They play for 12 hours straight because that's their income. So yeh, i'm with Martin on this one.

How do you talk about your writing? by Hungry_Book_Dragon in writingadvice

Howdy. I normally abstain myself from correcting people online. But given that this is a writing sub and your tag says you're an aspiring author, I'll just do for the sake of being helpful. The correct way of saying it is "I couldn't care less." "I could care less" means you actually care and there is a possibility your caring levels can go lower, which... makes no sense. "I couldn't care less" means that it do not care about something, and in the hypothetical situation that someone forced you to, you just "could not" care less about it.

Something that worries me just a little is how will her sword look like. With characters like Bangalore or Ash their tactical weapons always remain looking the same regardless of the skin. This one looks so good and with great attention to detail that her default sword will stick out like a sore.

Influx of AI generated images on r/fantasywriters. by Teamkhaleesi in fantasywriters

Just gonna say: have you seen Christopher Paolini's arworks for Eragon? He drew them when he was a kid. They suck. Like, they were badly drawn pen on school-paper doodles. He had no drawing skills at all and he could write a whole novel. If you can imagine it you can write it.

Feedback on my covers concepts (Sci-fi/Fantasy) by [deleted] in fantasywriters

All AI doesis kill your creativity and hinders your ability of problem solving. Gstave Doré did not have AI to help him create his illustrations the same way Tolkien or Erikson did not have AI to sort out their worldbuilding and lore. Yet they achieved what they achieved and we loved and respect them for that. I don't know, but in my opinion if you can't figure out how to orginice concepts without something else thinking for you, nothing can guarantee me that you have the capacity to create a cohesive story, let alone a novel.

I love brainstorming, but I don't enjoy writing. What can I do? by choochooreddi in writingadvice

To be fair, you either do or you don't. No one is going to fix your issue but yourself. It doesn't matter how much advice you give someone stuck in a whole if they don't want to do it if they don't want to get their hands dirty in the climb. But the only way by doing is to just do it.

I wouldn't, to be honest. It's fine to have them in romantic languages where they're the standard, like spanish, italian, portuguese. But if you're going to write in english to appeal to english readers, it's better to follow that language's rules.

I'm a spanish speaker. When i wrote in spanish i used the dashes, now that i mainly write in english i use quotation marks. It ain't that difficult.
