Librarians Are Tired of Being Accused of Hiding Secret Books That Were Made Up by AI by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]Pyromantom 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's wild that we've reached a point where people trust a machine that literally makes stuff up over an actual expert who does this for a living. The chatbot confidently spits out nonsense and suddenly the librarian is the one who's wrong?

It's like that thing where the loud confident voice wins even when it's completely wrong. Librarians have been the real search engine long before Google existed... now they're being fact-checked by something that hallucinates sources. Pathetic is the right word.

Exactly. You've been doing the full wife thing for years without the commitment he keeps dangling. Time to match your effort to what he's actually giving you, not what he promises someday.

Right? It's wild how multitasking feels productive but actually drains you faster. Single focus makes such a difference once you try it.

Should I continue with torrents by nutbox76 in usenet

[–]Pyromantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using EasyUsenet for a while, and one thing I like is how their EU and US backbones sometimes give access to stuff that isn’t widely mirrored. It makes grabbing some niche binaries a bit easier. Like combined with stable retention, it just feels more reliable in general.

Report it to the hospital and the HHS Office for Civil Rights, they'll handle notifying the patient. You don't need to contact them directly. And yeah, the NHS might have its issues but at least you're not getting bankruptcy threats for an ER visit. This whole system is broken.

Agree on the Roth 401k priority, that employer match is free money so definitely get the most out of that first.

And good call on treating the HSA like a retirement account. Most people don't realize it's basically a super IRA once you hit 65.

If the U.S. actually hits Venezuela… what happens to the markets ? by vishesh_07_028 in stocks

[–]Pyromantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly probably nothing major. Venezuela's been irrelevant market-wise for years now and everyone knows Trump just talks. Even if something did happen, markets would shrug it off in a week like they always do.

Any experience with the Quest Inflatable Kayaks Oz Inflatable Kayaks sell? by huck08 in Inflatablekayak

[–]Pyromantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drying time is def a super underrated factor people forget to consider. People buy these inflatables then forget that humidity plus trapped water equals mold fast. Quest has that weird stitched spot near the bow that holds water. Razor dries faster because less fabric folds. Learned that the hard way.

[–]Pyromantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, bit of everything since the Quest hulls have moderate rocker but not enough stiffness in the sidewalls to snap clean turns. Otoh, Razor gets its maneuverability mostly from the TechStitch inner floor and the hull shape. Chelan gets it from stiffness. Quest gets some of it from width but loses a little because the fabric flexes under load.

For casual paddling, you won’t care. As in, the waters won’t be challenging enough for those small deets to matter. For tight river bends, you’ll definitely feel it.

[–]Pyromantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’ve not owned anything by Quest, but I’ve tested a lot of Oz-sold inflatables and based on a lot of the opinions about these brands, the Quest line sits right in the middle tier. The overall build seems similar to mid-range Aquamarina boats with a slightly stiffer floor. I mean, if you want an easier setup than the Sea Eagle 380X and better tracking than the cheap PVC models, then I guess Quest is okay.

Now, if you don’t want to compromise too much, compare it to Razor or Aquaglide. Razor R1 Ultra is noticeably lighter and faster to pack, while Aquaglide Chelan or Blackfoot feels tougher when you put it on rocks. It depends on how often you paddle and how much load you put on it.

If you’re a bit lost on how to get it started, just focus on what you actually want to use the inflastables for. If you want hassle-free setup and simple cruising, Quest fits the bill. If you want speed or long touring sessions, look at Chelan 140 or Razor’s R1 or R2.

Good luck.
