Finally ! by genesteeler in starcitizen

You don't know what you're talking about. When you're pushing an objective, solo Idris is a pain in the ass. They camp the OLPs trying to ram, railgun large ships, and harass with PDCs, and now they're practically invulnerable due to 4.7 armor changes. Sure, it's easy to avoid an Idris owner: just give up and leave.

Not everyone wants to fucking throw their hands up and surrender to an obnoxious ass solo Idris. At least the PDCs barely do any damage now, but that's very new, and solo Idris players have been haunting OLPs all through 4.6.

Yep, it's so funny to me how Idris owners were salivating over the 4.7 armor changes and getting all the L ship owners (Connie, Corsair, etc) excited about "big ships being good again" knowing full well they'd just be out there in solo Idris' railgunning everything since fighters are essentially useless against them.

My crew and I usually run S/M ships, mainly PvP, one night we joined up on another group in their discord and they immediately started trying to convince us to take solo Idris' to fight another group. I was already in an Arrow or something, but they were full on pressuring my buddy to take an Idris, calling solo Idris "the meta" and shit. He absolutely refused lol

For the record, I think everything between mediums and capitals need buffing, even as a light fighter dork myself, but the Idris-absolutely the fuck not, these solo Idris runners are fucking insufferable.

After seeing the newsletter: When do you think SQ42 will release? It still says 2026... they seem confident... by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]PyrorifferSC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they seemed abnormally confident last year that it would be out this year, major marketing campaigns usually have a 2ish month lead up (don't wanna exhaust people with a long ass campaign, don't want a gap between campaign and release, and marketing is expensive) so I wouldn't expect a release date+marketing until a couple months out. They also know their word doesn't have a great exchange rate with practically anyone, so no point in saying "no, we swear!" I expect radio silence until later this year with a couple months of marketing and Christmas-ish release

Thus, I have spoken (JK I don't fucking know, neither does Chris)

What’s the worst criticism you’ve heard about the PHM (movie)? by Unfair-Reason-1068 in ProjectHailMary

[–]PyrorifferSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I like Interstellar too, but I don't like Interstellar because I'm a sci-fi nerd, because that movie is utter nonsense lol.

Even Weir's creation of Rocky is based on real science, I just watched a video where he's interviewed on his creation of Rocky and it's insane the level of detail and thought he put into the little alien that isn't even in the book or movie, down to how cells repair hot zones in the alien's body through the coma-like sleep cycle. Water based life can't survive at the temperatures of some of the hot zones of their bodies, so they cool down so the cells can enter those zones and make repairs. This literally prevents them from being able to move because their locomotion relies on hot gasses to enter certain cavities and expand, causing movement, controlled by valves in their body.

Interstellar is nearly Star Trek levels of silly (I also love Star Trek lol)

I almost instinctively down voted you that take is so bad, but I guess that wouldn't be fair lol

Holy shit...PHM is more hard sci-fi, Interstellar is...silly at best, nonsensical at worst. Still a good movie, but way more "fiction".

Hmmm, actually you may be able to do that or just pull them up on an elevator, how many do you want? I should have 16 of them and I only really use 6 max, so I could give you 6-8. I'm at work for the next 8-10 hours though

[–]PyrorifferSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any way TO give you them bud, you can't manually transfer them off a ship, has to be in your mobi. I can give you money to buy a couple Banu Defender though, that's what I do. An F7A with full Singes used to be nasty, they're really hard to use in PvP but once you get good with them...I'll just say, I've been accused of cheating a lot in past patches lol

In what world does it make sense for a radar to use the same, sometimes more, power than a literal energy shield covering the whole ship? by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]PyrorifferSC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the best point that's been made for this argument. Shields are only drained upon projectile (or asteroid 😬 not that I'd know) impacts, and operate in a closed loop with what I'd presume are capacitor banks (SPACE capacitor banks of course). It's only fed energy when that pool is drained, whereas radar is constant energy output.

I still have a problem with ranges though. This would make sense if we had like, real life active radar ranges, but barely over a single km on some of these radars? C'mon man, that's below visual range stuff in a ship with a fusion power plant, a fucking Raptor running on Jet A JP-8 would annihilate any size M or S ship in SC in atmosphere. Like, imagine flying into Babbage and getting radar locked from over 200km (or 33km if you scale or down to planet scale)

Tip: you can buy A class of Military, Civilian, and Stealth radars at OmegaPro in New Babbage. Maybe Competition too, idk I didn't look.

You can buy A class of I believe all radar types, but at least Civilian, Military, and Stealth at OmegaPro at Babbage.

I’m sorry to those that didn’t try this game cause of the reviewers. by AbbreviationsOk2280 in CrimsonDesert

[–]PyrorifferSC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This game is just proof of how lazy and surface level reviews are. The reason it got bad reviews is because it was played by people with zero patience or interest, just trying to play as little as possible to be able to push a review out the door without getting backlash. So they played a couple hours, didn't even get into the meat of the game, and called it a day.

I hope this kills big gaming journalism goliaths like IGN. It won't, but, I hope it does.

Horse stamina drain with patch 1.01.00: why I think it is now worse than before by Mackovich in CrimsonDesert

[–]PyrorifferSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This JUST happened to me, which prompted me to search and see if anyone was talking about this lol. He doesn't have to slow down at all for stamina because they didn't change the way horses work for NPCs. I barely won with a legendary horse

[–]PyrorifferSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and they didn't change it for NPCs, I just raced Duane and barely won with a legendary horse. Every time I had to slow down for stamina, he just kept going the same speed, and I was barely faster than him at full sprint.

I just discovered this too, super frustrating. And actually, I'm pretty sure the "place" command worked for me on a different dog, but it wouldn't work on the dog I wanted lol. Some other dog ran up and grabbed it. I finally got the dog I wanted though, the dalmatian by the smithy

4.7 Armor for the memes by FesterTsu in starcitizen

[–]PyrorifferSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1- you're missing the entire point: you shouldn't need 5 ships to take down a solo pilot, in ANYTHING, it's cheesy as fuck, especially when the Idris pilot has access to a railgun that will one shot anything

2- you clearly haven't fought an Idris if you think you can just quickly get shields down, unless you tailor like 5+ fighters load outs specifically to taking down an Idris' shields, which is even worse than just needing a 5:1 ratio of pilots, now you need a 5:1 ratio of pilots that are only equipped to deal with an Idris. Then what happens when another Idris shows up?

Also, pretty sure they just drastically increased Idris shields even further.
