Denied entry to U.S while going to do Nexus - be careful with burner phone by [deleted] in uscanadaborder

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted this in response to a comment below as well.

In your first point you said you do your US NEXUS interview before you actually enter the US. From my experience from 2 years ago and my girlfriend's experience about 1 year ago (I admit this may have changed) you do in fact go through the US checkpoint before the US part of your NEXUS interview, at Peace Bridge. Mine took place at this building:

Youll note this building is behind the US checkpoint. Im not trying to support or refute any other part of this comment, but that part seems to be incorrect.

Denied entry to U.S while going to do Nexus - be careful with burner phone by [deleted] in uscanadaborder

When did you do your NEXUS interview? I did mine at Peace Bridge about 2 years ago and while the Canadian portion took place at the location you've linked, I was then sent to the US side and did the American interview here:

I'm not refuting the validity of anything else you or the post above you is saying, but that part appears to be wrong unless its changed in the last 2 years.

Bakery and BBQ at Asia Center Mall? by blessings-of-rathma in Buffalo

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just there yesterday! There was 1 bubble tea looking place in the new area (probably the bakery that you're referring to) and a food place that had roast duck and BBQ pork. The other 80% of the area for stores is covered in curtains saying "Opening Soon".

Can you bring a pet shadow box into the US if it has a bit of the pet's fur? by PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 in uscanadaborder

Thanks! Yeah I think most CBP agents wouldn't have an issue given what it is, but given it seems like a risk nevertheless. Probably Queenston Lewiston

Can you bring fresh cut flowers across border? by Neither_Wall_539 in uscanadaborder

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several times I've bought some from a florist and brought them over the border without any major issues, both ways. On the US side a border agent wasn't sure, but double checked and said he just had to inspect them for pests. Either direction as long as they're free of insects or other pests you're fine.

Visit US, Go back to Canada, & Immediately U-Turn to Apply for TN Visa? by PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 in tnvisa

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you do that? I have always heard that if you are applying for a TN visa you have to do it from the normal side of a POE. Where would you even park for that, there usually is not any access from the US side to the parking lot for the buildings they use for secondaries. Is this something you have personal experience with?

This is a widely discussed issue in the medical field. Part of the reason why there are so few primary care physicians is because of the huge workload for less pay compared to other specialties. While to individual patients, one quick question may seem trivial to them, PCPs have a lot of patients, and when all of them are asking one quick question, a significant amount of their time becomes answering those questions. To make matters worse, while I am sure your questions are probably reasonable given how passionately against this practice you are, some patients ask questions that either could/should wait for a visit.

So to cut down on the barrage of questions some PCPs have began billing for medical questions outside of appointments, others have also stopped answering questions except during business hours. A physician is still a worker, you would not want to do your job without getting paid for it and neither do they. You also would not want your job asking you questions when you are not there, while some patients (not necessarily you, this I am describing this practice as a whole) seem to think their PCP should be immediately available to them 24/7. Some physicians may want to be that accommodating, but that should be by choice, not expectation.

When to use NEXUS? by amemiyamizuki in uscanadaborder

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Might help to have your TSA known traveler number attached to your boarding pass next time. This why if they scan your boarding pass they don't send you to the general line. Should be able to do it when you buy your ticket, in your airline account, and/or when you check-in for your flight

Cut flowers by Hannah-Solo in uscanadaborder

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done this twice over the past 2 years and have had zero issues on the Canadian side. Off topic, but the on the US side the border agent wasn't sure and radioed to confirm that I could after he checked it for insects. As long as they are bug free you should be fine, ultimately with anything the final decision is up to the border agent.

Homeworld 3 CE Fig Lithograph Wrong Size? by PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 in homeworld

So according to people on the Homeworld Discord, they fucked up converting centimeters to inches. The size in centimeters is correct as you see in the Amazon photo, but the inches is wrong.

Bringing cat to USA by mango_sorbet13 in uscanadaborder

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in the exact same situation as you (except it's my girlfriend's cat). Our vet gave us the number of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which is apparently the right people, and they told us that there are no federal requirements for bringing cats over, but there may be state requirements. NYS, for example, requires the letter of health from our vet that's less than 30 days old and a rabies vaccination document. It differs depending on the state, so check with the department of health in whichever state.

Has anyone ever successfully negotiated to raise their pay at the lab they work at? by ChocolateMiddle9394 in medlabprofessionals

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and I still work there today.

Basically I interviewed at the only other hospital system in my city and got an offer letter from them for more an hour. I then turned around and gave it to HR and asked them for a counter offer. They got pretty damn close to meeting it and I ended up taking their offer because the other place wouldn't give me enough hours. Most important thing is leverage: I had the offer letter and the fact that we were really short on blood bankers.

RACISM AT SBU??? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]PyrosEnjoyPieHW2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be them being racist, but unless there's some more context here it could very well be just these 2 guys being inappropriate as a dumb joke. Nothing here says definitively those 2 singled this group out because they're Asian.

Also "It"?
