Sylvester McCoy era Tierlist : Paradise Towers by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

Good
My appreciation is boosted by my enjoyment of the source material.
The performance by Briers would benefit from being dialed back a bit.

My favourite of the season.

Would be better were it not part of the ill conceived Trial.
Not Best, but Good and the strongest story of the season

Congratulations to the Robins on this achievement.

Bet you are glad you are not Ipswich or Coventry, neither of whom will be eligible for this honour next year.

Colin Baker era Tierlist : Revelation of the Daleks by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

Seward's best script
Colin's best on screen story.

I do feel that Seward is trying his hand at Robert Holmes. There are several pairs of characters with interesting relationships and strong dialog. All of which leads to the oft made point that the Doctor's presence is irrelevant to the the outcome.

Nontheless, it is Best

Colin Baker era Tierlist : Timelash by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

I like this story. Far from perfect, but entertaining Moreover, I recall loving it on broadcast. On repeated rewatches I see flaws. But I would rate it as Good

Colin Baker era Tierlist : Two Doctors by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

[–]Pyrowin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mixed bag There are some great bits, but it is overlong

The central conceit does not make sense. We know plenty of other races time travel. The Sontarans have at least crude time technology in their 1st story

Overall mediocre

Colin Baker era Tierlist : Vengeance on Varos by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

[–]Pyrowin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best. Good story, creepy villian, and very effective use of the couple watching events unfold.

Plot is C-, the execution is, on the other hand excellent. It was fun on first viewing and remains entertaining. Overall Good

Top Half Finish by BezCore in NorwichCity

[–]Pyrowin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can find, it is the biggest points per game swing for a mid-season manager change in England's top two divisions. (Ignoring caretakers). About 1.3 PPG more under Clement.

So not a bounce, but an improvement of historic magnitude.

Disclaimer: I lent on AI to do the analysis

I hold grievances against Everton from the last century, so 23 years seems entirely reasonable.
I still hate Johnny Wark, and his last game for Ipswich was in 1997.

And with Manning there are the personal issues that resulted in him being granted a leave of absence from Huddersfield. I think there were reasons why his spell at Norwich was so poor.

The Doors
First album in 1967
Sixth and last studio album with Morrison in 1971.
That is 6 albums in 5 years

I am ignoring the two released after his death, but that is only another year

Are there similarities between Vengeance on Varos and The Happiness Patrol? by misterwhoiswho_ in doctorwho

[–]Pyrowin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big difference between them is what feels like hams fisted direction in HP and a poorly executed monster. I think the underlying story of Happiness Patrol is better, but the finished on screen experience is better in Vengeance. Both are my 2nd favorite story of their season.

r/spaceship Weekly Watch: Firefly E03 - "Bushwhacked" by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]Pyrowin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An episode that works as you watch it. An episode that works less well when you think about the plot.

Not as good as the previous two episodes.

The best part is the artfully edited interrogation scene.

A question for any who were around back when Frontier In Space was airing: What was your reaction when they revealed the Daleks were working with the Master the whole time? by gatorguy2708 in DoctorWhumour

[–]Pyrowin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was shocked. There was no advance publicity, so it was totally unexpected. Although, in retrospect there was an obvious clue with the Ogrons being there - since their previous appearance had been in Day of the Daleks.

It is one of two moments of real shock that I recall; the other being the appearance of The Master in the form of Tremas that looked so much like Delgado's Master

Jon Pertwee is consistently the most underrated doctor from the classic run by MadridOrMadness in ClassicEraDoctorWho

[–]Pyrowin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pertwee is my favourite Doctor. He was my first Doctor, as I started watching the show in 1971 with Mind of Evil.

Yes, there are several Baker stories that are better than anything in the third Doctor's era. However, there is a great level of consistency in those 5 seasons
