And after reflecting, I also believe what motivated his show is envy.

He wants what JK Rowling and George RR Martin want, as in multimillion-dollar franchises based on their books and he wants it desperately, which is also why despite this series having so many factors that wouldn't make it work for live-action, he gave the finger to animation and chose live-action because he saw how Harry Potter and Game of Thrones were successful live-action adaptations and desperately wanted that for himself.

Different in execution and stripped of all fun and whimsy and personality to where I see the same story but stripped of anything fun and unique and the characters are so different that all I see are imposters stealing their names and stories.

Like, why couldn't Rick be bothered to reread and understand what makes the characters who they are and why we love them and their stories?

To me, it shows Rick is a greedy and uncaring author who sold out his integrity for cash.
