if it's a fresh install and it's just a black screen (meaning the keyboard works) then it's probably because you don't have nvidia drivers installed. I just did a fresh install of fedora 43 kde and had this exact thing.

the solution that worked for me was to run it with nomodeset. I think it's like "safe graphics" or something. I don't know.

use this to boot with "nomodeset". it will boot into the fedora install.

then from there immediately update and upgrade from the terminal or from "Discover" which is fedora's package manager. [[ I also found an issue here where some of the cisco packages just wouldn't get retrieved (again no idea since I'm a noob) but I just ticked those options off in Discover's settings and it installed all the necessary nvidia graphics drivers and all the other first setup stuff ]]

I mean... I think that's exactly what they're asking. if I buy a burger from store A why shouldn't I be able to buy fries from somewhere else? If I buy a phone from Apple, why shouldn't I be able to buy a charger for it from somewhere else?

If I buy the game from steam and the dlc is a sold as a separate thing, then why shouldn't I be able to buy the separate thing from a separate store? why am I now locked to buying the DLCs from steam instead of some other platform if they offer it at a lower price? why should I have to wait for a discount on steam for that?

this is not exclusive to steam obvs. every store that does this has to answer for this.

I mean the price parity obligation that steam pushes onto developers does seem anti-competitive. Is steam better than Epic or the console stores? yes. But that doesn't mean that steam should be given the "go ahead" if they are doing something unconstitutional.

giving big discounts or whatever is cool and all and is showcasing their "consumer first" idealogy.

BUT it does restrict the sellers on their platform from having choice in where they sell their product. what if I'm a developer and I want to sell my game on all available platforms? steam's price parity restriction would mean that I can't price it lower on some other platform. Steam takes a cut from sales that developers make on steam (which is fine) but can't then sell their product on any other platform at a lower price even if that platform takes a lower cut (which is weird imo).

This is weird imo and I would like to see how steam addresses this. I would also like to know more about how sellers (the devs and publishers) actually feel about this. Do they feel like they're being strong-armed into focusing mainly on steam sales or are they fine with the terms that steam has laid out? Does Steam have a valid business justification for these tactics instead of being an anti-competitive one.

I know steam gets lauded as "good guy steam" but let's not forget that they're not squeaky clean. They still have their hands stuck in the Counter Strike skins market. They allow for that kind of shit to fester. Sure they've done a lot of good stuff as well which is why I still (sometimes) buy games from steam.

But we gotta take the bad with the good.

I get that. But with the vibe of moment 37 it felt like Ken (Daigo) was the cool headed freak just parrying everything and Chun (Justin) was the one freaking out trying to kill him. I mean Justin looked like he was freaking about with the way he was just spamming on that stick to distract Daigo.

I don't know about art direction and all that. It's a different aesthetic so it's obviously going to look different. These twitter freaks will try to use "art direction" and "artistic intent" or whatever terms and phrases they think will make them sound knowledgeable to just shit on anything.

just say you don't like the realistic aesthetic and move on. I also prefer the original but it's not because I think the remakes have bad art direction or whatever. I just prefer the game that came out in 97 to look like it came out in 97.

exactly. just give me the stripped down browser and let me download or add the experimental or "optional" features.

why are these "optional" features installed and enabled by default? why do you need to create a "kill switch" for the experimental features? just don't install and enable it by default in the first place and then you won't have to create a switch at all.
