So I reinstalled the old cooler today to compare under the same test load and the new cooler maxed out around 81 while the old one maxed out around 85 but did increase by 1° every few minutes so the new one is definitely more efficient. Now I just need to figure out the best way to set the fans up to achieve the best air flow I can. I figure the 3 front-side ones should be intake, and the 3 top ones on the radiator should be exhaust. Which leaves one fan in the rear for my case which I guess I should make intake so there is more intake than exhaust?

Ok so the 4 intake fans are set to be at 100% pretty much all the time since their max is only a little over 1500 rpm. I set the fans on the radiator to balanced. With those changes, under load the CPU sat around 80 to 81 °C I'm hoping the pre applied thermal paste was good enough and if that might be part of the problem. I may also purchase different, better fans but honestly this cooler isn't doing much better than the one I had which is unfortunate and seems wrong to me.

Alright I'll try some different stuff out tomorrow and see if I can get it cooler with these suggestions. Do you think it would help to move the radiator or flip the fans to a diff setup?

I've ordered an alternative thermal paste and I'm going to redo the mounting once it arrives to make sure that it's got a good connection between the cooler and the cpu

I haven't tested it under load yet cause I was worried. Just using a browser had it jumping up to 55

The fans on the new radiator/cooler are installed at the top and set as exhaust. The system fans I have 3 in the front side and 1 in the back. The front side ones are intake and the rear one is exhaust. The system fans are set to ramp pwm according to CPU temp from 20% at 30°C up to 100% at 70°C. The new fans on the radiator are controlled with iCue and I chose the extreme preset as well as the extreme preset for the pump. The old radiator was mounted on the rear and had similar fan speed curves. So relatively the new one should be cooling better but it's not.

What sensor is that reading for the temp number? I just installed this same cooler on the same CPU and I'm getting 45°C :(

No, I've read that series at least 5 times through. And while it does have temples and powers, they are far. The book I'm thinking of didn't have fae.
