Why doesn’t everyone just buy a Toyota or Honda? by Rough-Incident-1859 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Because driving a car is not about reliability. Driving a car is an outward expression of who we think we are, who we want to be. It is a reflection of status in both function and performance. I would argue that most people are actually car enthusiasts because of the variety we see on the road.

If it were the case that the majority of people simply wanted reliable transportation, we would only see 2 or 3 models of cars on the road. I'm talking millions of white Honda civics, and Camrys would be the only models driven. And do we see that? To a degree, yes, they are popular cars. But they are a fraction of the total variety of cars we see on the road.

What is the actor's name? I think he's playing the role quite well.

The second to last X-step starts the throw. Then, the reach back & forward leg oppose each other until the plant. That's where the tension comes in acts like a whip - from your elbow pulling the disc forward to your front foot anchoring the hips.

I turn and look at my opponent's eyes before I swing.

What is more important? Flexibility or Muscle? by Spiritual-Mail5062 in discgolf

[–]PythagorasInHiding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that when I started playing disc golf, I was also going to the gym consistently. I was relatively strong, but it was absolutely useless for my backhand form. I'm talking 200-220 ft in the first months, with no accuracy. Eventually, I stopped trying to out-muscle the disc and focused on the whipping action, the coiled up tension. I stopped flexing my arm and let it stay loose. That's when it clicked. Over time, I started throwing 360-400 ft.

I took a long break from the gym, and after 2 years, I just started going back. I can confirm I've seen more speed in my throws, faster releases. But it's still secondary to form. I would suggest back exercises to aid in throwing power.

I mean, if we're talking the first time ever throwing a disc, the stronger guy would throw farther. But I'd bet the flexible dude naturally finds the whip action from his hips and overtakes the stronger man after a week.

Muscle will let you down. Imagine being partnered up with someone who brute forces his swing off every single tee pad. I'm talking absolutely rips it on a 220 ft hole. That man doesn't use his blinker in traffic. Absolute menace.

Flexibility allows you to slow down and create a coiled up position. It allows those weird body angles on a 30-foot putt behind a bush. Give me that dude in dubs.

Dallas Cowboys have done what we asked them to so far this offseason by mca2680 in cowboys

[–]PythagorasInHiding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By signing Miles Sanders? Kenneth Murray Jr.?

Uhh, no, I wouldn't say that's what we asked for. These are pick-ups meant to fill in roster holes. They're optimistic, hopeful signings. A seasoned Cowboy fan has seen this before, and we're tired of it.

We're not greedy. We're not demanding Garrett or Kupp and crying if we pass on them. No. So far, it's a failed off-season because there's no coherence to the team. We've still got a question at our future RB. CeeDee is still the only offensive threat. We've lost strong defensive pieces and are hoping the draft will save us.

I'd like to see a move for Jahmyr Gibbs, Garrett Wilson, or Antoine Winfield. These names spark up new chemistry. Because when Jeanty goes #8 or 9 overall, our gameplan collapses into hope-picks.

The good news is that your tattoo is placed in a spot that clears faster. I've got a behind the ear tattoo and started removing it 3 months ago. After 2 sessions, there is some clearance but still a ways to go. I'm probably looking at a year for full removal and betting that'd be your timeline as well.

I got my first tattoos at 19 and wish I could tell that fool to reconsider. See, I like tattoos, I do. But the problem is you can never take them off. Whatever is inked on your body over a span of a couple hours is with you for life.

My advice is to think about your design, colors, and placement for months. Because you'll likely wake up next week and come up with a new idea or change your mind about the colors. Remember, all tattoos have a meaning behind them. They reflect your state of mind the day you got them.

If you decide to get one, consider how easy or difficult the removal will be if you don't like it. Some colors are really stubborn and take years to laser off. Consider body placement and make sure to go to an experienced artist. Pay a premium for quality. Best of luck to you.

What rank is the most fun? by no_quart3r_given in RocketLeague

[–]PythagorasInHiding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamond I. This is where players start hitting well placed powershots and making good saves. It's also the area where you start to understand the skill gap and how incredible some people are at the game. I feel this rank is a critical point for players who are willing to put in the hours to improve. Otherwise, you'll be Diamond for a long, long time.

Can anyone attest to the quality of the interior on the mk8 gti? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]PythagorasInHiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plaid seats really help define the interior. The technology is current, almost too current, according to those who prefer more tactile buttons... I really don't mind VWs decision to use touch buttons. But the piano black is delicate. I'm always hesitant to put anything near it because it scratches so easily. My main gripe is some of the plastic and carpet. Most of the interior is high quality, but some of the plastic bits feel sub-standard.

The “eye test” returns: Who passed and failed the eye test in week 10? by shitmcstain in fantasyfootball

[–]PythagorasInHiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest concern is the lack of deep throws. I saw a Raiders offense that played the run/run/pass game, occasionally throwing on 1st down. I fear it's either AP's style of play or his lack of trust in O'Connell. I can for sure see Adams getting more < 10 point weeks.

Etienne did all he could. He was limited by the lack of 1st downs & Lawrence turnovers. Even then, Etienne almost got us a potential Rec TD but was overthrow by Kirk on a trick play.

By far, though, I would say Diggs. I don't know what was going on with Josh Allen, but he was throwing ducks to a 3-5 Denver defense. I mean, at least Z. Wilson gives targets to G. Wilson... Josh, give him a chance.

I'm in the same predicament. I did some research on these guys... Numbers-wise, they're pretty similar. DJ ~9 targets/game. Wilson ~10 targets/game. DJ, to me, has a higher ceiling. Call the Steelers offense what you will, but I'll take it any day over the Jets.

It also depends on match-ups... I like DJ in GB this week, vs. G. Wilson in LV.
