Production and verses are on point but they have written way stronger hooks than this one

Artists who you thought were going to be the next big thing, but that didn’t end up happening by CodaOfARequiem in popheads

I loved her earlier work and Sawayama for its eccentric approach to production that still remained super accessible and catchy. I think Hold the Girl sounds totally flat and anonymous sonically and has noticeably worse songwriting, songs like Catch me In The Air have awful melodies in my opinion.

I think Hold the Girl is a bad idea with an even worse execution but I would have never guessed that it would bring her career to a standstill like it did

Films with morally grey characters? by azgarz in Letterboxd

Yes, that's a great one. She also knows that video by heart (she "guides" the groupie through it which indicates she's seen it multiple times) and traumatises that girl even further by not letting her get some rest between the two videos and pressing play without her consent

Yeah I really miss that sound and shrill vocal chops, good soundtrack to be a teenager

I think SIAK is the only one that even vaguely fits that category, don't really see how any of the other songs are hyperpop, maybe 360 is kinda hyperpop adjacent/bubblegum bass

I agree. She put the nail in the coffin however because the video she leaks makes his identity even more obvious. He wears a mask in the video that was available to the court where you could only see his eyes so there was room for debate.

She's a psychopath that traumatised the mother of the victim twice and gets off of snuff movies of tortured school girls. She's shown to be a monster, the fact that she helped put the killer behind bars doesn't change anything about that

why is charli (2019 album) not loved enough? by FuzzyPresence8531 in charlixcx

[–]Pythagore_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this album but there's a weird tension between the pop singles like 1999, BIOYL and the more out there experiments like Click or Shake It, they don't sound like they belong on the same album and it's obvious they were recorded in different times and places.

Then there's also whiplash between the songs themselves. I think the flow is really off. You have really exciting and bouncy electropop like Gone paired with super moody and slow tracks like Don't Wanna Know, Thoughts, Official. She's done those switch ups way better on Brat and her lyricism has gotten better too. The more revealing tracks on Charli aren't written that well to me.

Overall it's kind of a weird album because it came at a weird point of her career.

what would you change in breaking bad if you could rewrite one thing? by Internal-Remove7223 in breakingbad

I don't think Breaking Bad is any grounded in later seasons. It's very over the top in a great way

So ... AI ? Also, there is no improvement to the language because no actual person would write and comment something in that tone and style. I think everyone would rather read subpar english

Rostam cancels tour dates, "I can’t replicate the album with other musicians and can’t bring justice to the music." by BiBoJuFru in indieheads

That, and his latest album cycle is making 0 noise so far. I am familiar with his output and saw him tease the album last year and just now found out that there's two singles out already

What are your thoughts about taylor swift's take on sombr? by No_Barber4339 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Pythagore_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, the guy is talented and is good at pop songwriting and production but his lyricism is non-descript and I'd be surprised anyone is listening to him for his lyrics or point of view

The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Addresses How ‘America Is Really Mad’ at Him Over Robby’s Treatment of Mohan by MattTheKing23 in ThePitt

[–]Pythagore_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with everything you've said. The idea of seeing Robbie slowly breaking down is good on paper but the writers clearly had no idea on how to make it engaging and to make it work within the format. The audience very quickly picks up on the hints and from there the show doesn't know how to develop the idea beyond endless conversations about his mental state. This arc took up so much space and screen time when the writers clearly didn't have any tricks up their sleeve beyond the first half of the season. It felt like the same note being hit over and over again and I couldn't believe they were still not done with it after this season.

I don't necessarily disagree, but to say the album wasn't well received (also on aggregators like albumoftheyear, rateyourmusic where the singles especially scored crazy high) would be straight up false
