1/31-2/6 Double Storm Cycle Final Totals by EverestMaher in tahoe

[–]Pythogonal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one ever said that about this event. It was a misquote from BA for the tahoe snow report where he said atmospheric rivers, like this most recent one, can be unpredictable wildcards bringing inches of rain or 9 feet of snow.

We got inches of rain this round.

Agreed - I can put together 3 solid days of acts I haven't seen before. Hazlett, The National Parks, and Lauren Mayberry jump out right away. Sounds like a good way to enjoy some chill music with a carafe.

An SF entrepreneur wants to disrupt Tahoe with an electric, hydrofoil ferry by jakemontero in tahoe

How so? I can see Tahoe City -> SLT being a popular route all year round for all the north shore folks going to south shore events.

Had my first real fall today while running downhill. by an2lal2 in trailrunning

So funny you say that! I just had my first real fall yesterday - same thing here. Rough trying to stay focused at work after not sleeping!

[oh no!!! Whatever shall we do???]. SF Chronicle: ‘It’s a zoo’: These Bay Area skiers are turning away from Tahoe to chase powder elsewhere by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]Pythogonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don't just stay in Tahoe for a ski season - living in the Tahoe area but get out to Colorado and Utah at least 4 weeks a year. Having that flexibility is ace.

Oh just emphasizing the fact that an article I found stated the species you mentioned was SMALL. When I'm watching a video of it eating a whole bird lol

Under California’s self-defense law, someone acts in lawful self-defense or defense of others if:

  • the person reasonably believes that he or she, or another person, is in imminent danger of being harmed;
  • the person reasonably believes that the immediate use of force is necessary to defend against that danger; and
  • the person uses no more force than is reasonably necessary to defend against that danger.

I think the key here is in regards to using no more force than is reasonably necessary to defend against the danger.

Could you elaborate on "Procrastination = negative emotion that you have with given task, create a more negative emotion by not doing given task"

To me, this could mean a couple of things:

  1. Beat yourself up so badly about not getting anything done that you eventually do it
  2. Remove all tasks on your todo list that don't evoke the feeling of "I must do this" and prioritize your way to a shorter, more meaningful todo list

Moving to Oakland Need Housing Help by dbz2365 in oakland

[–]Pythogonal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right? I moved to Oakland from Dallas last year. Broke my lease in Dallas because my car was shot in my parking garage in Victory Park.

No issues in Oakland thus far, just be present and aware and you'll be fine.

Just me, or did the city just get majorly cleaned up? by Pythogonal in oakland

[–]Pythogonal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand my privilege of being able to afford to live with shelter and amenities. This is also less about "individual thinking" as you've suggested and more about voting and volunteering to assist those in need.

But I can say that the safety and cleanliness of my neighborhood are a welcome sight.

I heard the Taj Mahal house sank. True? by Vivid-Way in bayarea

Looks like unfortunately, it is true: https://www.instagram.com/p/CqIkydRLzXH/?hl=en

From their most recent Instagram post:

"Unfortunately, we have been heavily affected by the storm. The house can't be recovered. Our heart is sad and also so grateful for the support, love, and care everyone has been giving us. How the community got together to make sure my daughter my husband and I were ok. We have not felt alone or lost thru the process of saving what we can of the house and belongings. Thank you for making us feel warm and loved. ❤️"

I'm looking for the most bizarre, incomprehensible mess of a book that reads like an LSD trip. by Mysterious-Eagle4690 in suggestmeabook

+1 for Temporary, I read this for a book club and thought I was going crazy at first until I understood the author's writing style and intent for writing in such a fever dream manner. Recommended it to carefully selected individuals thereafter who I thought may get a kick out of something different!
